Just sounds like somethings come loose not connected to the moving parts like a loose clip to me.

  5. From 15 secs onwards I've tried clutch in.. clutch out.. so not input shaft or clutch release bearing

It's rather impossible to diagnose off a video! Mechanic will probably be the only answer!

  7. I've the exact same issue, place I bought the car from said it was a loose great shield and rewelded it. No chance. Still grinding away, not got worse in 4k miles, but highly annoying.

Seems to be worse after washing the car. Worried it's a bearing on a belt pulley wheel or something. Someone said they had a similar sound with their air con pump. I just don't know why it's so specific to the revs - mine happens from 2.5k to 3 every time it's occuring.

  8. I've took aux belt off still makes noise so nothing aux side it's driving me nuts wanna get it fixed lol

  9. With you on that one. All I can add today is that it's been dry for about a week and my car has lost the grinding, until I washed it today and, yep, it started up again. Starting to wonder if it's the discs/calipers. If you're trying stuff like removing belts it sounds like you'll find it before me! I'm a lazy sod! :-D

  10. Should ask, how many miles is on yours? I've only 25k miles so not near doing a timing belt change, but thinking about it, in case that's the cause.

Got a good local Renault garage so might ask them to take a look when I'm getting my decat in.

  11. Quite high 89k cam belt was done last year but off to bolsolver car care tomoz for them to look but very strange yours only does it when wet hmmm

  14. Sounds like it could be dephaser pulley??? Had a lot of issues with them on the 1.6 Megane , scenic similar noise ... Make sure oil level is ok, maybe stick a long screw driver to your ear and put around engine bay see if you can pin point noise. Hope this helps

  15. Balls, if it's that I'll be back to the garage were I bought my car. It has been into them a few times, and they tried a few things but I knew they were just fiddling around.

Might have to see Eddie from on here, works in my local Renault and know renaultsports well.

Does seem to match up with the sound coming and going with parts of the rev range.

  16. Megane sports don't have dephaser pulleys?

  19. Anyone else got any ideas? Would a work crank pully cause this?

  20. Had a crank pulley fail on a Clio. Causes the aux belt to slip but it's a pretty basic design (two discs with a rubber damper in the middle which can separate) and can't really rattle unless it's falling off or something which you'd definitely spot! Aux tensioner could rattle a little bit if the spring is loose or knackered I suppose.

Can't listen to video at work but have you ruled out a wheel bearing? Particularly the rear ones.

  21. I can get it to make noise stationary so not a wheel bearing lol took aux belt off crank pully noise still there so none of auxiliaries so I'm stumped. It's something that's rotating [emoji30]

  22. For me, it is so so specific to 2.5-3k rpm. Some renault mech will probably know what that is indicative of, but it's just finding them. What mechanism activates / deactivates at those revs to cause the sound.

Sounds like nails in a blender but under a pile of duvets.

  23. Nigel bring it to us and we will have a look for you bud

  24. @Eddie_ I'll send you a Facebook message, some day this week I should have time to leave it in on a break and saunter back round to work.

As sods law would have it though, last time I was about to drop round to you guys, the sounds disappeared for a couple of days, lol

  25. You figures what your noise is yet lol

  26. Not had a chance, but I'm going to drop it into @Eddie_ s renault garage this month, see if they can work it out

Solved one noise at least - a strange flapping sound like a flat tyre. A big part number sticker on the driveshaft flapping around!

  32. Sounds like a bearing somewear. Alternater ?

  33. Ah, i know nothing about the detailed workings of an alternator, but do they operate on a clutch basis, or permanently connected to the drivetrain.

  34. quite loud from passenger wheel arch

  35. Hi thanks for your reply, it makes the noise when aux belt removed

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  36. Alternator is driven off your crank pully so always going round

  37. Was wondering as my sounds seem to be just driver-side of centre. Its really hard to pin down the exact area.
