R26 Window Motor

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by wms_f1, Apr 18, 2016.

  1. Hi All

Driving home tonight and I had the dreaded window stuck open!! If Im honest its been playing up for a while, so Ive already bought a regulator. So got home and cracked on at fitting the new one, and hey presto problem solved.

However the window has been slow going up for a while, so as the door card was off took the opportunity to grease all parts that I can.

Tried the window again, and no better! Whilst trying the window it got progressively worse. It will go down normally, but doesnt seem to have enough power to go back up!!

    Could the motor be knackered?

Any help or thought would be great!

    Cheers

Is a new loom required for this or a clean and seal?

  4. Thanks for the heads up on that, didnt think to check there!

However Ive just checked it this morning, and it all looks fine and perfectly dry!

Ive tested the window again this morning and it will go down no problem, however will struggle to go up. However if I assist by raising the glass with my hand it will work quicker and close!

    Any more thoughts?

  7. Thanks for your replies guys.

Just thought Id update this incase it helps others.

Loom was fine, and I swapped the motor and all works perfectly now. I also greased the runners whilst I had the door card off.

  8. Hi all, I'm looking for some advice, I've changed the regulator on the passenger window, I've checked the loom and still getting nothing, oh and I checked the fuse.

Regulator is fine as I also switched it with the driver side that I knew worked and the new one works on that side. There is no noise at all when I press the button on either door. Is this a motor issue?

    Thanks

  9. My bet is still wiring issue mate.

  10. You taken the switch to bits? I found loads of corrosion in mine

  11. No because both the drivers and passenger switch doesn't work so I ruled it out. I've seen people. Replace their motors but I'm surprised it doesn't make any noise at all....

  12. Hi mate, had the same problem with mine, neither window worked, and passenger side switch didn't work either, it turned out to be a failed drivers window switch. Bought an eBay job with the same part no. And all good now.

  13. Hi, was your driver side window still working though? If so I'll have to try that. Thanks

  14. No mate neither worked( my passenger side went first, replaced the temic and it worked for three months then died again, then the driver's side packed up!) I took both door cards off and replaced both temic units and the passenger side worked but not the driver's, the driver's only clicked, so I took the switch to pieces and one of the 4 clicker buttons on the driver's side had failed so I robbed the passenger side section of the same switch to attempt to fix it, long story short I mullered it completely. I had expected the passenger side window to still work using the switch on the passenger door but it wouldn't, both units clicked but wouldn't move the window, new switch sorted it.

I would listen to the unit in the door whilst pressing the switch and if it clicks then it could be part of the switch has failed, they have a flimsy little contact spring to make and break connections. Just my suggestion!!

  15. I'll try taking them apart but I've listened for noises and nothing at all when pressing either switch. Drivers side is still absolutely fine.

    Steps I've taken so far...

Changed passenger with working temic unit

    Changed fuse

Checked door loom (looks clean and tidy)

I've only got the switch and motor left to do.

    Thanks

  16. The other thing it may be, if you take off the speaker grille you can get to the wiring plug and give it a little wiggle, I found also that the wiring plug connectors had loosened a little, give the plug a wiggle and it may work! If so then use a pin to push them together a little.

  18. All the wiring looks OK, think I'm going to have to replace the motor :worried:

Does anyone have a link I can only find used motors on eBay.

    Thanks

  19. mine turned out to be the switch.. motor was fine..

Mine fail for fun, just fixed the passenger side but God knows how long it'll hold up. Not started on drivers side yet...

They both decided to fail at the same time. [emoji58]

  21. Still not managed to sort this one! Arghhh!

Any advice on the next steps to take? Does anyone have a link for a replacement window motor?

    Thanks

  22. Oh and I've not got pics but the connections around the motor and to the regulator are also clean.

  23. Does anyone know where I can get a passenger side wiring loom from? I've tried eBay and they all seem to be 5 door or drivers side. Thanks

  24. Look on eBay but search for "breaking Megane 225/r26" rather than exactly what you want. And ask the seller directly
