Alright guys, looking at ordering a R26.R clutch and been doing a bit of hunting around to find the best price for the flywheel for it. Going for a DMF instead of the SMF. Noticed the price is quite low on this, wondering if there is any reason to suggest why? wondering if I may have missed something. I've seen prices for the flywheels elsewhere and they are expensive. My question really is aimed towards this one mate and not other flywheels upwards of £500. If its a genuine R26.R DMF flywheel and its half the price then I'd quite happily go for this one. Just wondering there's there any reason that people can see to not go for it?
Heard the SMF causes problems with the engine management light and it can't be mapped out. Plus if there isn't much of a benefit for a SMF over a DMF then might as well stick with the flywheel the car was designed with.
i dont think there is an upgradable clutch for the dmf tho so anything more than your standard power megane will cause problems.
If that's your main concern, I've had an smf fitted with no problems thus far. And the engine revs a tad quicker, also doesn't need to be changed if the clutch goes. It's a more immediate engagement though. Not a massive difference between the two I'd say. Just a price thing I guess

You said the standard DMF could not handle extra power, which it can. There are loads of stock DMF Mk2 Meganes running around with remaps with no issues. The SMF has become a fashionable choice. Bit like roll cages for cars that don't really need them. Just looks good, sounds good.
"i dont think there is an upgradable clutch for the dmf tho so anything more than your standard power megane will cause problems." sorry maybe unclear i was refferring to a standard clutch and flywheel with a mapped megane . iv heard stories of people killing standard clutches very quickly due to the added torque . hence why people are choosing smf with r26r clutches , i was also led to believe there isnt a modified clutch for the standard dmf and the r26r clutch would also not work with the dmf ...
No worries. It may be worth a search as there is lots of recent info on clutch choice. Eg The R26R clutch already has a DMF as standard.
