My first proper detail. Picture heavy, megane 250

  1. To start off, I'm no professional but I wouldn't mind getting into the 'detailing world'.

I thought I'd treat the megane today to a full detail, I started around 10:30 this morning and finished around 4pm.

Started off with the car in a right state from the 400 mile round trip to Leeds and back to get the car mapped, belts done and a service.

Like I always do I started off with the wheels first (please ignore the state of the wheels, couple more track days to go and they'll be getting a refurb). Rinsed them then sprayed some auto finesse iron out, washed with auto finesse wheel soap then rinsed.

Next up I covered the car with auto finesse citrus power left to dwell for 2 minutes while I got the snow foam ready. Left the snow foam on there for about 15 minutes whilst I went and got the shampoo bucket ready.

Sonax car wash shampoo, read some good reviews on this stuff but I wasn't to impressed so I'll try and source a new shampoo. Washed the car using the 2 bucket method and my new wash mitt

  2. Loved the wash mitt it holds so much water! Started from the top then worked my way down, dried using my old sonax drying towel which left the car looking like this

The paint work was in a right state, tar everywhere! So I covered the car in some auto finesse iron out and left on there for around 5 minutes (sun was out).

Came back out to find this

Lol! Got to laugh. Anyway I rinsed the car and dried it quickly. Next stage was tar remover, I used auto finesse oblitarate. Not sure if I could of used this when the car was wet?

Brilliant stuff and it worked a right treat! Next I clayed the car, iron out and oblitarate got rid of most but I was speaking to a few detailing guys and they all said to clay it just to be safe. No pictures unfortunately but I'm glad I did as the car came out so well! Rinsed and washed the car once again using the 2 bucket method and dried using my new auto finesse drying towel, little smaller than I had imagined but it worked wonders!

Next up was my favourite part, protecting! I used auto finesse rejuvenate using my new auto finesse handi puck and 2 coats of auto finished tough coat (I may apply a third coat sometime in the week).

The final stage was auto finesse finale, again one of my favorites! I used autobrite window cleaner and rain-X, tyres dressed with auto finesse tyre gloss and the front splitter treated with auto finesse revive

Went down the road from me to grab a couple photos, I did take the SLR out but I haven't used it for so long it ran out of battery! Only took a few photos

Like I said, I'm no professional the car is far from mint, the front end is ruined with lacquer pealing and stone chips, wheels curbed and brake dust melted in and a few scratches and tiny dents in a couple places but I'm really happy with the outcome.

    Any suggestions fire away!

    Thanks for reading, Jake

Nice work looks nice and bright for white.

  7. Great stuff, have to do it also soon!

  8. Not my favourite colour for the mk3 but looks like you've done a good job there.

Where was the mitt from? I can't seem to more one last more than a couple of months.

  9. Got the mitt from slims detailing
    Thanks!
    Cheers mate

  10. Looks great and well described. Would have gone for white if I could have found one at the time.

  11. Great effort, thanks for sharing!

My favourite colour for the mk3.

  12. Cracking job, can't notice any thing nasty from the pics. Is the auto finesse revive any good. Could do with a trim protector/cleaner

  13. Thanks guys appreciate it! I only use revive on the front splitter and it works really good from my experience.

Few photos from this morning after it rained during the night

Rain-X also works a treat! Especially having no rear wiper, as soon as I drove off it all just came running down! Brilliant stuff
