R26 R 26 Rattles

  1. Hi,

Ive had the R26 a good few months now and some of these are driving me crazy,

dash board - solved by using wd40 at the base of the glass - apparently its the dash seals that make the noise

the roof lining above the passenger seat - initially thought it was the light fixture but took that out and it still does it, stops if you just hold the lining, can I just spray some filler or something behind it? or anyone know a good solution

Drivers side door - rattles near the little storage thing, but its not that might need to take the door card off and take a look but done that before and its no fun

the roof lining one is the worst if anyone has any good ideas

  2. The sensor in the base of my rear view mirror was the source of one of mine. The plastic became brittle and had perished.

  3. My 225 dash has a rattle and so does the passenger door which drives my up the wall (I've had the door card off but couldn't find the cause) so wd40 along the bottom of the windscreen could stop the dash rattle??

  6. From experience at work, rattle from the headlining could well be the label with the part number of the headlining on rattling against the roof, sounds silly but it does happen, just drop the front of the headlining enough to get your hand in and peel the label off (if that's what it is of course) hope this helps

  7. after a year these still drive me nuts!!

I have one in the passnger door which annoys the hell out of me and one in the little round grill on the right hand side of the dash

  8. Pretty much everything inside my 225 rattles...

  9. eventually tackled this, the dash was just more WD40, the roof I ended up putting a small piece of bubble wrap between the roof and the liner and that stopped it.

Now this door!!!, after alot of messing around its the little storage thingy in the door when its out no noise - acutally had it out for 2 days and that was 2 days of rattle free bliss!!!. Now the problem is I am not sure which part is rattling, I covered it in bubble wrap but that has not helped, any ideas? Had a good look at it does not appear to be touching anything in the door card. It rattles with the lid up and down but stops if you push the door card into the holder. Last thing to sort rattle wise and no idea really. tried a different thing every day for the last few days at this rate might just remove it and drive with a hole in the door card!!

  10. ha ha I'm with you on that one. Mine does the same and the speaker cover. I took the speaker covers off last week and the rattles went but then few days later the cubby hole rattled.
Does the door cubby just come out without taking the door cover oiff?

  11. Yeah just pull it upwards

I have had the same problem on the drivers side which I mitigate by resting my elbow on it all the time, as the lids eventually break anyway (plastic hinge) I may end up just throwing away the cubby box bit and bonding the lids down onto the door cards. Really awful cheap and nasty design by Renault sadly like the much of the interior on these cars.

  13. I am thinking it's more the front of the lid rubbing on the plastic lip that causes the noise. I never use it so that could be a good idea to just seal it up

  14. Hope this helps someone!

I had a really annoying rattle from the passenger door on my 225 and it turned out to be the trim/strip on the outside of the door was a little loose in the center, i could move it in and out maybe 5mm and when the car was running it caused the rattle, removed it and refitted and all was well.

Have also had the speedo cover/binnacle rattle and the passenger side sun visor rattles when closed up against the roof, drivers door handle on the inside has a very quiet and intermittent rattle too, oh and the rear seat against the rear trim too? French cars huh?

I swear my 1991 gt turbo is silent and a 2006 megane with 67000 has had at least 5 different rattles.

  15. On my speedo binnicle i used a bit of double sided sticky tape, its kind of foam, maybe 2mm thick stuff, think its for number plates, and put it in between the bits that were rattling, something like that might work?
