60mm intercoolers of eBay ?

  1. I'll be ordering one for Christmas me thinks  big shiny cooler here I come... if a group buy is on the cards put me down for one please

  2. I will ask him, not sure if he will be able to offer anything! However asking will do no harm!

  3. Cheers Chris wish I hadn't cancelled now?!

  4. Ok, as my intercooler is getting fitted tomorrow I thought I'd see what the standard cooler does.

Ambient temp outside is 7oc through normal driving the intake temp is between 10oc-13oc with a few WOT bursts it jumped to 24oc!

I'll do the same test tomorrow with the new inter cooler and post the results.

  5. Thats a pretty big jump in temps isn't it?

  6. Yeah, lets hope the new cooler brings that down!

  7. Also up for the gb for Xmas. If we only got 5 or so off him lght work out cheaper. Awaiting your results later today

  8. I've emailed Dave regarding a group buy, I've not heard back from him as yet.

I was hoping to be fitting the intercooler this afternoon as I had time booked of at work, but something has came up and I have had to stay! I am still hoping to get it fitted tonight so my results may be on a bit later.

  9. So thats 17 degrees above ambient, when i did a few little tests on my intercooler it rose to 12 degrees above ambient (cant actually remember what that was thoughthink it was 9c).

So if my maths is right taking 1.7C as 1%. Taking 5 (the difference between the two ambient results) divided by 0.17 should mean that my chinese intercooler has a 29.41% increased cooling capacity.
So the inter cooler seems to be performing just as it should as the add on ebay states a 60mm core has a 30% increased cooling capacity.

Its been a while since i was in school doing maths so if any one wants to check my figures please do!

I know it only looks like a very small improvement 5 degrees C but i think that is nearly 30% better cooling.

  10.
  11. Quantity Surveyor . . . yes you are correct. I love exact science!

Be interesting to see Chris's results now for a comparison . . . if it performs the same I say lets get this group buy set up.

  12. Ok sorry for the delay.

Intercooler is on, some modification needed to the clips.

Temp test ambient 7oc again standard driving 10oc - 12oc full throttle through 2nd 17oc

    So massive improvement!

  13. My pace one never went above 2deg ambient normal driving and sure the most i ever saw was a 30deg trackday at snetterton where i saw 36deg

so they work, but seem not as sufficient.

  14. I wonder if any one can work out the % difference in cooling between the Chinese and Pace/Forge one...

  15. Great improvement, for shure u could get 1 or 2 °C on the forge one. But i think the save $ it+´´s much better. With the save get an oil cooler.

  16. At mate of mine has a forge intercooler, his car is off the road for the winter now, if we get a good dry day I'll see if I am able to get the results from his car!

  17. Oil cooler is a waste of money, spend the money saved on petrol and a heavy foot more like! :tongueout:

  18. Any news on these?

  19. I'm waiting on Dave for a group buy price if that's what you mean?

Other than that, I've had no issues!

  20. There at £159 now... but if dave is willing to do them a little cheaper I'll be up for buying one on the group buy

  21. £159 quid is already pretty cheap for what it is, stop being a tight arse! :tongueout:

  22. Tight like a tiger lol

I'm treating myself to one for xmas none the less (hopefully)

  23. Well if we can get definite numbers I can see what he can do them for?

  24. I'll have one if the group buy goes ahead.

  25. I'm in for definite. Will buy one either way.

  26. Il take one in a group buy for sure. Was going to order one tomorrow, but wouldnt be fitting til January anyway!

  27. I assume no real advantage with a k&n panel filter air box mod and milltech cat back exhaust and a Henk or RS Tuning chip?

  28. You buy it as a supporting mod so the advantage would be colder air going in the engine!

  29. Yup, can't wait to get mine. Will order it at the end of the month if we don't do a gb.

  30. Is it a difficult job? Build single seaters from the chassis up but hate working on road cars!

  31. Has anyone measured the pressure drop difference between forge/ktec and these cheap Chinese ones?

    Would be interesting to see.

  32. Ive been looking at the pics of these intercoolers and the Chinese ones have 14 cooling rows, Forge has only 13 and the ktec has 16 rows if I counted right.

The ktec one looks to have the most surface area for the passing air to remove the most heat from the core. Which is what you want on an air to air cooler with a good air flow through the core. Personally I wouldn't fit a cheap one but im very fussy when it comes to modifying.

  33. End of the day it cools air, no matter what or who made it.

I've been doing more temp tests to see how well its working. I've found that initially when you first start to drive its about 20oc, which is obvious! Further in to the drive it drops a lot. (Which I didn't drive long in the above tests) I've found that nine times out of ten with normal driving its only 2-3oc above ambient. When we had a cold spell the intake temp was down to 3oc!

It increases when you floor it, again to be expected!

Problem is people believe the hype because it has a "name" it's better! daft thing is, a lot of these named stuff is made in China anyway!

So if you want to pay £500 for something that a £175 items going to do...

My last car I wanted a built in sat nav, but all of them were either square or dam right ugly! And and a cost of around £1500! I found a Chinese company who made one specific for my car AND it had an android running system best head unit I ever had! Cost a mere £500... And this is how it looked!

    That's my pennies worth anyway!

  34. It increases when you floor it is the only part that matters.

What was the temperature differences after a few good blasts? Not just one and definatly not cruising. A good intercooler is one which can sustain the lower temps and thats a fact not "hype".

  35. If its fact show me evidence!

From what your saying you have either a forge or ktec ic? Run some temp tests and we can compare the two?

  36. Cool videos  I saw a mitsubushi emblem (sorry if I spelt it wrong)

.. anyway surely if it's an improvment from the std cooler, which we know suffers from heatsoak it's a worthwhile mod?

  37. That shows what? It's even said in one of the videos "I sprayed it with water"

  38. as i said here, seems they work but not as well.

prob a case of you get what you pay for, if u do trackdays i would get the better one to sustain power and keep temps down.

  39. Heatsoak on full load is what is important.

Not pottering around and saying Wow look at my low intake temps on this cold day.
