Scotts Yellow Full Fat 250

Discussion in 'Megane Projects' started by smith250, Feb 9, 2016.

  1. I thought i should really start a project as this car means so much to me... A bit about myself and car history so im scott 27 and i have a massive addiction to cars/supercars and i have been lucky enough to own some lovely motors, im certainly not one to brag but have owned 16 cars altogether lol i get bored quite easily. I have owned 6 Renaultsports now 3 clios 1 197 and 2 200's one of them was the very rare Raider. 3 meganes technically two 250's one 265 the reason why this car is so special to me is because its the first proper fast car i brought and its such a great spec being the full fat cup chassis etc with some great extras as it was a managers car. I had to sell it in 2013 due to personal reasons and then it came back up for sale at ktr sales ( ktec racing) so i couldnt resist as in my eyes it was better than the 265 one i owned.

So heres when i first picked it up in 2013

I quickly booked it in for its first track day at Brands Hatch full open pitlane day which was just ridiculous fun i couldnt believe how capable the car was standard!!

I then removed the mid box silencer as a cheap mod and quickly after unfortunately i had to sell the car.

Happy to of picked my car back up from Ktec Racing in september 2015

Since i last had it unfortunately the previous owner didn't look after it as well as i had previously and so i replaced the aux flip cover and the gear gaiter as it was pretty battered i hate to think what he did in there to cause that. He also changed the original speakers to alpine without replacing the plastic sheeting in the door and basically caused a very expensive leak. Sorted that and quickly gave it a mini detail was pretty happy with the results.

Here it is now as it stands with my private plate on it

My plans for it are not major but im doing a trip to the nurburgring & spa for the first time in 2017 so slowly getting the car ready for that im hoping to possibly do a track day at Brands Hatch before hand.

    Anyways plans are:

    Eibach lowering springs
    Strut braces
    Braided Brake lines
    Scorpion/miltek/Akrapovic exhaust system
    Spacers
    New wheel bolts
    Alloy refurb
    Spare Alloy

    Thats it for now folks

Cheers for reading this far if you did

  2. Looks lovely mate

  3. You've bought back your old car. That's interesting

  4. thanks dude it's getting there

Ha ha yep so pleased I have it back

Now saving for my alloy refurb and possible remap

Car goes on the Dyno on the 20th march should be interesting how it does

  6. Looks nice mate. I've been looking at getting a r26 for a fair few months, went up to k-tec Friday and bought me self a 265 trophy same wheels. Looking forward to picking her up. Heard nothing but good things about them

  7. Ah very nice I was thinking of getting the trophy from there as they are gorgeous cars and the red round the steev alloys look the park your love it you simply cannot go wrong!!

  8. I fell in love with it straight away. Couple of track days and general day to day use some subtle mods and job done

  9. They say never to go back to a car you've sold, but it obviously worked out for you

  10. Stunning car mate, congrats on finding it again.

  11. cheers guys does need some tlc but it's getting there slowly

  12. Brilliant dedication. I like the idea of buying the same car twice. You don't really need all those mods to do Spa/Ring. You probably don't want to lose travel for the Ring so spring possibly not such a great idea anyway.

  13. Strut braces aren't needed on a 250. The front towers are very close to the bulkhead and so have enough strength. Save a few ££ for a remap!

  14. Ah ok thats good to know i shall keep it the same then.
Thanks dude thats saved me some pennies

  15. So since my last update i have fitted a Ktec induction kit

I then took my car to Eurospec rolling with rsuk results were not bad considering no remap yet

  20. Interesting to see this, I owned the car between your 2 ownerships. I traded it in to a garage in Liverpool when I bought my M3, he must have struggled to sell it and moved it on to KTEC. The alloys were still standard when I sold it and it had michelin pilot super sports on it so they must have painted them and changed the tyres.

The speakers are as bad as they are because I had a top end Audison/JL audio setup in there which I swapped out just to sell the car (sorry for this but I couldn't leave the £2k system in there). The components are bigger than standard and are 6.5" so when you replace them buy bigger ones! The doors were professionally modified by a audiofile in car to take the bigger speakers so it's done to a high standard.

It also has a fastchip remap on it so that's why you're getting high bhp and torque figures. The RS Tuning map is based on the fastchip map so you probably won't gain much by going somewhere else.

  21. Hi Ben

Good to head off you about how the car was when you last owned it etc. That's interesting to hear as I thought the sound system had been played with. Bet that sounded immense.

Also wondered if you remapped it can I ask where you got the remap thought it felt quicker lol

  22. Wow what an interesting read! Fair play to Ben as well

  23. The remap is from fastchip (https://www.fastchip.nl/) which is pretty well respected by the renaultsport communities. You buy an interface that goes between the car and your laptop, download some data from the car and send it to fastchip, they then send a map suited to the car.

I actually had some issues with the first map they sent so they updated it and sent another one. I never had it checked for power but seems it's making decent power and the AFR is nice, nothing to worry about.

I think fastchip actually wrote the base map that RStuning provide so it'll be a similar map from them, only benefit being that they put it on the dyno and match it to the engine better.

It's a great car, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes wish I'd kept it but I get bored of cars too quickly!

  24. Ah right ok I'll be honest I've never heard of it but fair enough quite pleased it's got a remap already on it I did think it seemed quick ha ha. Thanks for all the info it's been really helpful and I'm glad you enjoyed as much as me it is a wicked car I love it. I'm the same I do get bored as well with cars hopefully stick with this for a while longer yet.
