    what exactly do they do?

  2. Hold more boost

  3. Well it's seems to hold peak boost for longer on my stage 2 R26, where as before it used to peak and drop it doesn't drop as much now according to the OBD diagnostics

  4. So a few little updates,

Received my powerflex black series and my short shifter

So I'll be getting busy getting these fitted and the car ready for Oulton on Tuesday.

Also picked up so millers nanodrive

6 litres for 50 quid, not bad when considering everywhere charges around 75 quid for that.

Now just for opie to deliver my gearbox oil and were good to go

  5. the black ones will be hardcore!! I did the upper mount and gearbox one on Saturday, the gearbox insert was a complete bitch to do for a non mechanic like me

  6. So didn't get chance to take many pictures today as daylight was slowly dwindling.

So today I changed the oil using millers nanodrive, fitted my new short shift and my powerflex black series engine mount inserts.

Went rather well and was done in just over an hour before darkness set in.

Really pleased with the short shift feels a lot more positive when changing gear now and more precise with the shorter throw.

    Drivers side insert

The engine mounts are vibrating a little more but from experience they do seem to soften up a little over time but they really seem to help tire the car together and it's feels a tad more planted into bends now

  7. Few pictures from Oulton

  8. Little bargain I picked up today

  9. Spent my day reading through your project thread, a lot of time for this car mate, keep it up!

  10. Cheers mate, I try to keep it updated and fairly interesting as I love reading other people's threads.

I'm no camera man but glad you enjoyed it

  11. Lots of pictures and things are good, especially for someone like me whos purchasing a megane in the next few weeks, gives you an idea of things to do etc.

  12. I was quite lucky to buy a half decent well looked after example with loads of history.

I only ever had one plan for the car and that was to turn it into something I can drive on track come the weekend and drive to work on Monday morning.

Next year I'll no doubt step it up when I've got some of my other commitments sorted and it'll purely be a toy

  13. Just read this from start to finish, cracking read mate. Car is awesome.

  14. So remember I won that uber cheap flocked dashboard off eBay back in November?????

Well it finally turned up this week, what a joke I know heard various reasons for it taking so long etc but it's finally here!

Technically I won it for £2.20 plus the 17.50 postage!!! Winner!

  15. the price is a consolation but why did they say it took so long?

  16. Well I heard it all, he was moving premises to begin with which I could see on his group but other folk were still getting there items.

Then he hadn't got a dash in stock, then there was courier issues etc etc

The quality is great just the service lacked any form of communication, I was a tad annoying to see other customers ordering and receiving before me even though they ordered way after!

  17. One of the greatest threads on this forum, loved it! Gave me nasty ideas as to what to do to the Scenic.....

  18. Cheers mate

Can't wait till march for its first Trackday of the year, really don't enjoy driving on the roads in general now especially in something with a bit of poke!

If your not looking out for the old bill or a crafty camera your dodging pot holes and ruts and I don't believe you can enjoy performance cars on the road as there so held back!

Hence why I'm looking at small vans and cars to run daily now and keep the Megane in storage at the mother in laws for Trackdays and the odd drive out with friends

Plus I can go even more hardcore with the car

  19. Well, the second gen Scenic like mine is kind of a minivan, and it did come with the toned down Meg RS engine (like mine), so.....:tongueout:

  20. Great read from start to finish, thanks.
How did you find the rsr tyres vs the road tyres ?
And would you advise using them on the fronts only?

  21. There sound tbh, a good compromise!

They probably offer 8/10's of the dry grip of a 888 and apparently the RSR is better in the wet but at half the price and they come with more then 5mm tread unlike a 888.

Compared to an out and out road tyre there great, at Oulton park I found myself staying out for 40-50 minutes at some point and providing you watched pressures they didn't really fall off so to speak.

I have no issues running them on the road, they don't like large amounts of standing water but you drive to the conditions. I've used them in dry, wet and snowy conditions and always got home.

Personally I'd run them all round!

  22. Coolio, thanks for that response. Iv 2 perfect Mitchelin S's on the rear and didn't want the expense of replacing them.
I'll use the rsr on the front for a while and see if the rear keeps up with them, fast into corners or off camber I might struggle.
    Keep up the good work.

  23. I'd put the RSR's on the rear and switch the michelins on to the front, rear will wear them much less and they'll still be in good nick when you come to swap the fronts.

Or sell the michelins on here, I sold my old ps3's on here for good money

  24. Might haven taken its time but by the look of that flocked dash the wait has been well worth it. Love reading this thread. If only I had the money to follow in some of the ideas, or if mine would kindly stop falling apart :worried:

  25. Yeah it was worth the wait in the end, I'm quite patient but the lack of communication got my back up if I'm honest and no matter what you pay for things money doesn't come for free.

Cheers mate, glad you've took the time to glance over the thread. I must say other then cars and training I'm quite a reserved guy and just enjoy going out with the missus and friends kind of grown out of big piss ups all the time so that saves some cash as does working shifts lol

  26. Ha, I've got no choice atm, car's coming to the age where things are deciding to go all at once so off the road atm until they're done so have no choice but to give up on the piss ups. Luckily I don't have the missus worry atm or I'd be screwed lol.

Yeah I can well imagine mate, I'd get my back up aswell if I thought I was being messed about regardless of the money spent on it. Especially when you put other things off thinking the item is arriving so you can fit it only to be let down.

Keep up the good work anyway mate, look forward to seeing future work

  27. Cheers mate, tbh I've refreshed most the steering and suspension components other then that it's just been well maintained by myself and the previous owner used a few well known specialists

  28. So these turned up this week,

Had the pads through JJC, muchos discount and next day delivery and the discs from Kam racing again next day great service.

Booked Anglesey this morning with opentrack, another one to tick off just need to book the hotel but leaving that to me pal.

Also emailed TFD in regards to upping me rear spring rates [emoji106]

  29. So then a few more bits ordered today, still waiting on my BC upgraded rear package but estimated delivery is either back end of this week or early next week.

So today I woke up and thought sod I'm ordering me new seats and harnesses so I can have them in before my first Trackday in March.

Spoke to Gareth and Felix at GSM in Nottingham and after a long chat I've decided to go for the Bimarco Futura. They come bigger then most manufacturers GT (wide) fitment which is handy for myself at 6ft1 and a smudge under 16st.

Whole reason I went for these is they seem to get really good reviews, there FIA approved so have to meet some form of standard and Gareth at GSM highly rated them and also I couldn't warrant spending over 1200 quid on a car that on a good day is worth somewhere in the 6k region.

Unfortunately Ktec seem to be the only people that manufacturers a subframe for the mk2 Megane so purchased 2 of those

And then a set of 4 point harnesses from demon tweeks, these are 3 inch items so nice big straps

So next couple of weeks I can't wait to get cracking, also going to strip the hell out the rear

  30. So these turned up today,

The rear BC racing 7kg rear springs and the matched dampers along with the handy remote adjusters.

Got them through Jonny at TFD, really helpful used him a few times now and service is great!

  31. So yesterday the weather held out and I got some work done on the Meg.

First off I swapped out the rear BC 4kg rear suspension setup for the 7kg trackday setup. Didn't get any pictures as I got stuck in but for saying they've been on a year I'm happy to report that all adjusters were free, top coating!

Then I moved onto the front, first off I swapped out my tired looking Ds1.11's for a fresh set and swapped my cracking Ktec discs for some brembo HC's

Then I set about swapping my inner steering joints and track rod ends and my steering rack bush with a new TFD item

That's the new bush in place, was certainly a fiddelry little bugger!

I built everything up with anti seize to save any future issues.

Once I built the rest of the it back up they was still some play in the passenger side and a small knock! Frustrated to say the least and at first I thought it was a steering issue but after disconnecting the track rod turns out me lower hub bearing has play in it!

Now I replaced these back in July but there's a pretty nasty pothole that caught me off guard on the way to work a few times so I suspect I've fell victim to that!

So fingers crossed Derby bearings delivery turns up today so I can get it swapped and the geometry done!

    Few more pictures

    Old rack bush

  32. What a great read - fantastic to see how the car has come along and how much use you've had out of it... I just wish I was as handy as you mechanically as I can see my labour bill stacking up very quickly!!

Ill be interested to see how you get on with fitting the bucket seats. I've been looking at some XL buckets as well and how to mount them. As you say the Ktec sub frames seem to be the only ones available, and if they bolt in easily the probably a good shout. Are you using their rails as well? It's the side mounts that'll be interesting to see if they're a straight fit...

  33. Luckily I am a time served mechanic but if I wasn't I don't think the car would be anywhere near the spec due to labour or if it was I couldn't see it being tracked as much.

From speaking to other guys that have used these seats the side mounts are a direct fit to the subframes but we'll see later as seats are scheduled for delivery today

I haven't gone for adjuster rails as it stands as tbh I'm the only person that really drives the car even though the missus is insured on it she much prefers the luxuries of the 1 series lol.

Also I'm wanting to get the seats as low as possible in the car and I imagine the rails will save me an inch or so!

  34. Chriss C is having custom ones made and fitted this Friday , I'm sure he will put pics up when it's done

  35. This was and option and I know Chris was talking about making them so you could mount the lap straps to them but for me it was just easier to buy the Ktec frames.

After all there already powder coated and durable and the local fabricator would no doubt charge me more then what I paid after club discount

  36. Is there ktec forum discount?

Yes the height of the standard seats is very annoying. Is the Ktec subframe as high as the original? I was hoping ktec frames with runners and xl buckets would be much lower down.

  37. You'll end up sitting a lot lower in the car with the Ktec mounts - its what I run, with a runner - the runner is a bit of a pain, it may get removed soon.....My subframes had to be drilled out slightly to get a wide seat to fit on them...

There's no such official forum discount as such, but if you never ask, you never get. Well worth a phone call, and the question!

  38. I always ask but I also get it with the Cliosport.net that I'm still a member of

Yeah I got chatting to a chap on the Facebook group an apparently the Bimarco mounts lined up ok but if the drill has to come out no worries haha

  39. So just had a delivery!

New seats thanks too GSM performance, can't recommend these guys enough! Gareth and Felix are both really helpful!!

    Also had these

Genuine TRW bottom balljoints from mister auto (correct ones after some searching)

One of the arms has some play in it on the car so going to rebuild my spare arms with new balljoints and powerflex bushes which is the only things I'm waiting for now!
