Soooooo... I'm sat on the M61, been here fot nearly 3 hourse due to an accident... I've got melting ice cream in the boot and I'd probably stroke someones love gun right now for something to eat! Anyway while I'm bored I thought I would stick the old obd in and see what's what... To my great surprise it's detecting a cylinder 4 misfire. Cleared the fault and it's still there! Car feels spot on so I'm a bit surprised - injectors are less than 3k old so maybe spark plugs and or leads? Coils maybe?
It was my first choice - Timing wise it's not too bad as it's due it's mot and service in a couple of weeks and I was replacing the plugs anyway. Now I wouldn't normally do this but being Christmas will one coil suffice?
One should be fine, at least that way you can pop it in and see if the problem reoccurs. If it doesn't, bingo, if it does its not cost you too much
Sorry to bring this old thread up Daz but did you get to the bottom of this?? My Scan Guage is coming up Cylinder 2 misfire and won't clear. What's the firing order of these engines?? Is it 4-3-2-1 ?? 4 being can belt side?? Cheers
I'm lead to believe Renault engines start numbering from the flywheel/gearbox end, so yes, no.4 would be belt end.
