Don't over rev it and don't labour it, bit hard with a turbo engine but better changing down a gear and let the engine run a bit freer, modern engines don't need the pampering like the old cars.

If it's a diesel forget all of the above , warm up gently and then thrash it.

  4. Officially - don't go above 3500 revs for first 625miles/1000kms.

  7. You'll always get mixed responses with these threads.

When I had my 250 new, I always made sure it was up to temperature before revving it out. Even then, when I under 1000 miles, I would rev it through the range, but I wouldn't go bouncing it off the limiter all the time.

I did a track day at 1000 miles and it went well, but was still very tight. I did another track day at around 3000 miles and it was a world of difference. The engine was far looser and the car felt noticeably more responsive.

I've got a new Clio coming in the next month or so (fingers crossed on this one, build date is March 16th), and will probably be running it in the same way. I don't see the point in keeping under x rpm as that's just not how the car will be used.

  8. When I think about questions like this I relate back to the millions of company cars bought ,including many now in the higher performance bracket, many of which I've owner all my working life and fleets I've been responsible for .
Worked hard from turn-key 1, serviced to schedule only, never pampered, generally run trouble-free for 100k ++. Never ever had a breakdown with any of my company cars, makes you wonder.

  9. Cheers folks. I was just wondering what renaults recommend. I'll follow their guidance. First new car I've bought, current golf r is leased and I followed the graduated rev increase per 100 miles after 500. So much torque I could still make good progress without revving out.

  10. I picked up my new 275 Nav earlier this week. I've clocked up about 350 miles so far and have most of the time kept it below about 3/3,5000 rpm. I have on the odd occasion though (a handful of times) put it into 'Sport' and taken it up the revs, but not to the limiter.

I think I'll explore the revs a bit more once I pass 650 miles, but it's hard to resist exploring at the moment... haha!

  11. My 275 has freed up noticeably once past 10k miles, and the exhaust has become quite a bit edgier too.

  12. That's good to know, it certainly feels a bit 'tight' at the moment when I've occasionally gone through the revs. Also good news about the exhaust, it's definitely noisier once warmed up so I'm hoping it gets a bit 'poppier' and noisy after a few miles have been through it.

  13. Have you got the Akarpovic on the Nav, if it was even available?

You do have to get the exhaust very hot, which it won't really do unless in sport mode and using all of the revs.

  14. No Akrapovic on the Nav, it wasn't an option. I have the Cup Chassis and a few other bits and bobs though.

Yeah I'd noticed that when in sport it was certainly louder, and more so once hot.

  15. My exhaust on the 250 started popping a lot more after a year or so and 15k on it. But it'll still only really pop in Sport mode, but after some miles were on it, it would happy pop on downshifts.
