Would anyone be interested in a trip down to the Nurburgring ? Like a big convoy, stop of at a few places along the way. Iv always wanted to do it, but think id prefer to go with a few people in a group. Just gauging interest.
Large groups can be a proper PITA, Thats coming from our first couple of trips 8/9 years ago consisting of 20+ cars. Smaller ones are far easier to manage Pick some dates, Book accommodation and ferry/chunnel and go over. Chances are there will be some people there to meet up with anyway.
I started a thread up in the track day section a few weeks ago asking people when they are going this year, Im sure if you fancy going the same time as people have said they are going you could meet up and convoy with them. Once you been you'll see how easy things are to sort out, where to eat, where to get your pass cards for the ring, etc. etc., I do suggest you go with somebody that's been beforehand, otherwise you'll spend most of your time finding your way around and probably miss a fair bit We convoyed in 3 cars last year and I agree with Jamie, large convoys are not a good idea due to various factors. Walkie talkies are also a good idea to take.
Make sure you eat at Pinocchio's, great Pizza and a golden rule is you order the biggest one the first time you go, that'll last you 3-4 days anyway
Haha. Sounds good. I wasn't bothered about 20+ cars going. Even 4/5 i just think it will be a good idea. Gumball 3000 style haha.
It is well worth thinking about a track day there, such a difference in the amount of cars on track and driving ability. But i am also game for the free for all
sensible..you have people going off all day.Could land yourself with massive bills if god forbid, you hit something,or you car blows up. Last 2 times we went,we had a car blow up on track..luckily they had euro cover..but even then its a hassle, unless you speak german. you must go at least once though. .its a amazing place..watch out for rain,it turns the track very slippery in seconds.. we had it raining on one part of the track, and dry on another!..added a few ass clenching moments...its all good fun!
Haha sounds good, its more for just saying iv been and, done a lap, im not bothered about lap times and all that lol good company food and beer is all im bothered about
I'm going on the 18th July until the 25th July. Doing a spa track day too on the 21st. Can't decide which car to take thou ?
I love the place and try and make a trip to the Ring an annual thing. As said big groups can be a pain, the logistics of accommodation and trying to find places where you can all eat at once can be a pain. As already mentioned don't go out there trying to smash an under 8 BTG, at least not on your first trip out haha. Weather can change quickly, after all it is a Forrest region. We had a lot of rain last year when we went, wet laps are certainly a learning curve! I'd like to do a Trackday myself out there, probably treat myself to one for me 30th but there's just something about the appeal of TF that I don't think a Trackday can replace! Biggest thing though is go out there and have fun, it's easy to organise so get to it!
Started going about 3 years back, been around 12 times since, before June i'll probably be out there in April or May last year I managed around 150 laps in my GT-R and a handful in other cars. I can get into the 7's in the GT-R now. No idea what I'll see in the Megane, high 8's and I'll be happy.
Those gtr,s are bloody awesome , my mate should be bringing his this year if it's fixed in time . I've been going now for about 7-8 years and never timed myself once . Went first time with a couple of test drivers for lotus , there first rule is no timing so stuck with that philosophy knowing I can never drive as quick as them . They were nutters .
I know Barry from MLR but a friend is booked on for it but unsure whether he can go, either way if he doesn't i'll probably take his spot and if he does i'll be his passenger. I don't time whilst out, but record my laps view it back on Harrys Lap timer later on.
I'll be at spa on Monday afternoon then all day Tuesday I'm pretty sure that the trackday is non transferable but as I see it you could be an additional driver ?
will see you both there, not sure what car im taking yet but will be staying in the lindner ferienpark.
I stayed at Hotel Zur Burg last year opposite rent4ring. No doubt stay at Burgstube this year as he's always bought another hotel up the road I think too
OP, if you want to get this going suggest some dates and see what people can make. I doubt the group will be large anyway.
Myself and a friend are in the process of trying to buy a place as of yesterday at Nurburgring, it's already an established B&B and with his field of work (IT online based) and fact he's previously lived for 12 years in Germany and speaks numerous languages he's going to establish himself there and work out of it whilst running it for accommodation. Although this isn't going to benefit anyone this year it certainly could do next year and once everything is going through I'd be most grateful if people can take a peek and if nothing else bookmark and share the place and I'll certainly make sure promotional codes are available for all those helping spread the word. It's got views of the castle and is less than 5 minute (walking) to Devils Diner.
Sounds interesting for next years trip, always booked the ringhaus or hotel zurburg with exception this year at the tiergarten . I always like to stay in centre of Nurburg I'd be greatful when your up and running for some info please .Good luck will the purchase .
