Hi, I have just been speaking to Renault - they dont have any Near Side Front Lower Arms - they're on back order apparently (since August 2015). I need one of these to get my car back on the road. The Lower Arms are specific to the R26 - does anyone know of any motor factors that sell this part specific to the R26? I'm getting desperate now!!! thanks, wardyworld
Hello, The parts are not R26 specific, are Megane Sport specific. That means you have the same arm on RS dCi, 225, 230, R26 and R26.R The difference is the threaded ball joint and the extra hole for the anti-rotation link. Your best bet is to refurbish your arm by changing the bushes and the ball-joint. Ball joint is the Espace 2.2dCi one, rest of the bushes are stock Renault ones. Much cheaper too. S.
I'm sure I've seen that they are physically different and read that only Renault supply them? Very confused.
Thank, yes I've done a bit more research. I just need to get one ordered. Why do Renault lost the parts as different numbers if the megane 225 and r26 have the same wishbones????
I've just had all the bushes & balljoints replaced on my 225 Trophy. Cost a fraction of the price of new arms.
I've done the same with TRW ball joints and Powerflex bushes. All done and powdercoated for less than new from Renault
Problem is my wheel came off, so the car travelled down the road on the ball joint, so it's probably bend or damaged the wishbone too...
If you really want a fast solution to get your car back on the road, you can buy a used normal Megane lower arm, swap the ball joint and maybe other bushes as well and drill the hole where anti-rotation link is connected with that spacer from your original arm. There is no other difference. S.
Wishbone is damaged, so I need a new one. Renault insist the r26 and 225 have different wish bones and that the 225 ones will not be a direct fit. How can Renault not have a handle on when to expect delivery of a basic component for a car under 10 years old? They don't even have clue when they are getting any, or if!
They don't know what they say. Just because is a slightly different part no, they consider is different part.
Both 225 & r26 arms are on back order mate. Your best bet is to get second hands arms & refurbish them.
Oh.... I'll have to try and get one from a breaker. I've been looking all day and I can't find one anywhere...
Woohoo! I have found a genuine Renault wishbone so I can get this sorted now. This has been a crap week, i'm 600 into parts and still not finished yet.
Randomly off eBay from a place called atozmotorspares.co.uk - it's a genuine Renault part, we checked the part code against the Renault spares website. He has the elusive nearside in stock too, so anyone stuck should be able to get one. Not cheap at 168 quid, but genuine part, o do t like pattern part suspension components!
Hell yeah! Garage said the old wishbone has been worn away so the metal is thin, if I try and get a new ball joint pressed in it might snap, then I would have been fubared!
Hello Wandyworld, Can you donate me your broken arm and the anti-rotation link if you changed that as well? I pay for the shipping. Many thanks. S.
Thank you very much. Let me know so we can sort the thing. You will be remember for your kindness. S.
No problem, I ask a lot of questions, people are good enough to help, so it's only right I help where i can in return
Sorry, the guy that had one ready to ship, has discovered that, no, he does not have one - they are on back order at Renault (who knew!?) - what a muppet. I have had enough - the car is going to we buy any car today. Am looking forward to getting my Fiesta ST!
225 arm is a direct replacement to r26 arm, only difference I could see when comparing the 2 is that the bushes are solid on the r26 (no holes) and the 225 arm bushes are holed imagine it gives me compliance on the road
Do anyone have a bad 225/r26 arms with no use anymore? And maybe some anti-rotation links? Thanks, S.
