So I picked up my 275 Cup-S yesterday and it comes with the Akropovic exhaust. I'm after a little more noise from the exhaust, would a down pipe help this? How many cats are on these Meganes? If only 1 then I guess a sports cat down pipe would be required to pass mots? Anyone else with the Akropovic exhaust done anything?
I have the Akropovic but haven't done anything to it. Do you really want to modify the car when it's one day old? For more noise, take out the back seat and the boot carpet, but that's pretty stupid. It's a brand new car - you don't need an MOT for 3 (4 now?) years - you do know that don't you? Drive with the sports map engaged all the time - it makes more noise then. HTH
I'm happy to modify the car. It's an ex demo car with 7k on the clock but new to myself, it just means I get more time with the car the way I want it. Yeah, I ain't driving around with my rear seats down, I will I've my boot and don't fancy things flying around haha. I find even in sport mode it's still quite quiet. I have just come from a GT86 with a primary cat back non res Milltek exhaust, and although I don't want it that loud I wouldn't mind something a little louder to emphasise the pops and bangs. I know I don't need an MOT for 3 years but I don't fancy messing about come the time.
Does your exhaust have the same silencer as the older rs250? If so, get this chopped out. I did this last week and love it, not too loud but enough to notice up the Rev range and some more pops and bangs.
Not sure, I'm new to the megane world. It has the Akropovic exhaust though. How much difference does the over pipe make on these vehicles?
Don't think there is a mid box or at least one of note on the akra system. As said I would look at a 3" decat as that does sound nice coupled with the akra system.
Do not cut that exhaust! Take it off and sell it and buy a Miltek or similar. You'll get what you want and have money in hand I reckon.
I wouldn't hesitate in removing the central silencer out it, Akra or not. 3k Exhaust? LOL its well under 2k if you look properly. Or just fit a decat if your feart of chopping it. The OEM version has a central silencer whereas the aftermarket one doesn't have that silencer. Guess they had to quieten it down for the stock Renault system.
I have an Akra on my Trophy and it's sweet. Sometimes it's quieter than other times I don't know why. I did consider a decat but then you need a remap too. You'd get flames though at least!
Mine doesn't have a centre box as far as I know? It's straight to the backbox? Could be wrong but I've been under the car. I want ant a bit more noise from mind so may look at a decat but that's your only option really. It's not the loudest but the quality of noise is good!
You can get flames off the trophy as standard. I didn't realise until my brother was standing at the boot and I almost burnt his ankles. Another 275 trophy owner I know of has flames off his too.
Iv a bcs exhaust system for sale. It has a actuated valve which bypasses the back box when on boost. Sounds great. If your looking for something to chop up or mess arround with removing silencers etc this could be a good option for you. I didn't pay that for the exhaust and I won't be cutting it up. I will look towards a sports cat or prob a decat and a remap. Thanks all.
