Just wondered what the average price for the cars 3rd service at Renault is? The one with the spark plug change. Thanks
How does this work with warranty etc? If i arrive and say, just change the oil and filter and stamp the book as I have changed the spark plugs, will they question it or will it impact the warranty if they don't do it themselves?
If it's a pukka Renault outfit they should do the plugs to maintain the warranty. That's fair enough because they are covering themselves from somebody putting cheap shite plugs in, cross threading, over tightening, dropping a gold filling down the plug hole and hoping it will be ok etc etc and then claiming on the warranty later with an engine snag. Problem is most Renault dealers are likely to do all of the above anyway.
They change the brake fluid during the same service too. I'd already changed the fluid in mine for better stuff as I'd had to change the caliper piston seals a couple of weeks before, they just did the service as normal and noted on the receipt that "the customer has already changed the brake fluid". Can't imagine it being a problem if you did decide to do them.
its my understanding most Renault fitters opt fit Porcelain fillings, far more damaging than soft gold of yesteryear
When i took out a basic service plan with mine, told me stuff like plugs/brake fluid/coolant would be extra and i told them id do the plugs myself, didnt batter an eyelid about it.
It's called "block exemption", basically as long as a car is serviced as per manufacturers specification you keep the warranty intact. Not 100% but I think it must be a VAT registered business that does the work. Steve
Because my car was a demo apparently it does not have the 4+ which i only found out after i bought it
I assume by 4+ you're referring to the 4 years warranty/breakdown cover? Or is it something else? How come you don't have it due to buying a demo vehicle? I only ask as I'm looking at buying a demo at the moment.
Yup, VAT Registered is needed. I personally wouldn't be taking it to the Dealers for a service and never have done, Might just be me though. I would only use a Specialist or a reputable place.
