Decat mapping

  1. I got a scorpion decat fitted to my Meg at the weekend which I think sounds the nuts. I know I'll need the engine light taking off, but will driving it until then do any harm? Will the lambda see that it's producing too many emissions etc and adjust the mix leaving it running lean or is that just something I've made up in my head?

Took my mates car to have an MOT today, driving there and back no sign of the engine fault light coming on., it's not been mapped yet either, running very well, also fitted with a Scorpion decat pipe.
So in my opinion it will be fine, might not be a good idea to do a track day though.

  3. I don't track my car, I love it too much, I've done 15 or so miles since fitting it and the engine light has been on for 10 or so.

It will be fine, Less than ideal mind you.

I ran mine for over a year including TD's and it was fine

  5. Thanks everyone! Also, noticed a rattle at 2k rpm since fitting it, the guy who fitted it says it might be a gearbox mount as we did move the engine forward slightly on a jack to get the cat out and it wasn't 100% before we did it. It makes the interior rattle like crazy though! Has anyone else had this after a decat and knows what it might be? It's only under load not revving in neutral. I totally trust him but neither of us were completely sure as to what the cause was!

  6. Mine rattles all the time when cold and pulling away.
It is something tapping on the bulkhead heat shield if I move or pull on a pipe or two it goes but settles back after a day.
You my have disrubed something or not 'perfectly' clipped back into place.

  7. Yeah we'll have to get it back on the ramp and have a look. Might as well do the mounts while we're there!

  8. any noticeable difference after fitting the cat? worth doing?

  9. More noise and crackles and bangs, and it gets on boost a bit quicker. Not a huge difference but I like it!
