Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Powello9, Feb 8, 2016.

  1. Hi Guys,

I need all 4 wheels properly refurbishing. I also need 4 new tyres...

Which way round shall i get it done? New tyres then refurb or vice versa? As i don't want either element damaging.

    Thanks in advance.

Have the old tyres taken off your wheels then take wheels and new tyres together so they can refurb and fit your new tyres at the same time.

  3. Would there be any issues with balancing etc?

So order the new tyres online and take them all to the wheel refurbisher? Don't bother with a tyre fitter?

  4. Yes

  5. Awesome, cheers guys.

You do realise that even if you did get the tyres fitted first they would just be removed anyway during the refurb, If your getting it done properly that is.

  7. Any good recommendations for a good wheel refurbisher ? Stripped back and powder coated etc

  8. Best bet is to just drop the wheels off at the refurbishet. They will then remove tyres, chemically strip, blast, smooth, refinish them fit new tyres and balance.

Personal choice but I've always had my wheels wet painted. Powder coat is durable yes but once it gets kerbed, chipped etc it will ingress water and once that happens it's basically full blast & re coat.

  9. Jamie- Yes was just unsure if refitting the tyre might have a slight detrimental effect on it. So the above advice is perfect. Found a place near Chester that comes highly recommended.

    Thanks again everyone

  10. Which one in Chester mate??

  11. The Wheel Specialist- Chester. You can find them on Facebook.

  12. I can recommend another, I've had 3 sets done there, absolutely brilliant, Wheel Perfection ltd, w/site wheelperfection.co.uk
tyres off (or take your new tyres). acid dipped, primed, baked, top coats, baked, lacquered, baked, tyre refitted and balanced, £200- £220. 18"-19"wheels. They are in Telford.

  13. Thats a good price!

  14. Yeah I know of Greg and the lads down at The Wheel Specialist. Good lads but a little pricey at £390 for all 4 wheels when I got a quote last year.

I found another guy who's work is first class and that's coming from an OCD lad like me haha. It's called The Wheel Deal Wirral in Bromborough.

He has a Facebook page with pics of all his work. Nice fella too. His name is Ken.

£200 all in, tyres removed, chemical strip, repair any damage, prime, paint, lacquer and refit tyres inc balance.

  15. Just got my wheels back from Lepsons in Gillingham Kent. Absolutely perfect condition, though not everyone in my family is a fan of the red on my LY R26. Red centre caps with black diamonds look cool too, though £360 is not the cheapest.
