225 low biting poiint on clutch

  1. Sorry for yet another clutch question!!!

My 225 has 65K on the clock. The biting point is low.....(push clutch to the floor and as i release its not long before it bites)

Any ideas as to what it could be? Ive not yet had a look to see if theres any leaks etc but thought id ask on here to see if anyone has had similar?

I should add theres no slipping etc no matter how hard or soft i drive

  2. That's good! Higher is more worn lower is less worn!

  3. Agree with this!

Sounds like it may of had a new clutch very recently - result!

  4. Cheers for the replies.

Any ideas on where to start regarding sorting this out? Will bleeding the clutch system have any effect?

  5. I don't quite understand...? There's nothing wrong with your clutch, it's better then mine and every other persons on here! Leave it is my advice!

  6. Am I being trolled?

  7. I did wonder, there seems to be a few around nowadays! Although don't think you are with the op, as he has a few questions on various threads about his clutch!

But op, a low biting point is generally regarded as better than a higher one as it indicates a fresh clutch - it can take a little while to get used too, after I changed mine to a smf and r clutch I stalled it once or twice to start with as I was so used to the old higher biting point I'd automatically just pop it up to where it used to bite

  8. Cheers for the replies......no trolling going on lol

Yeah maybe i need to give it some time to see if i get my head around it. I had a mega pimped WRX with a racing clutch and it is similar in feel to the 225 as in its either off or on if that makes sense?

Maybe its my heavy foot thats the problem

  9. You haven't got a smf on there have you? As I noticed when I changed mine to a smf instead of a dmf the clutch was a lot more on/ off than just the oem setup, although nowhere near as bad as a paddle clutch or anything.

If your not sure,is there an odd metallic noise on start-up? Almost like a butcher sharpening knives? If so you've got a smf

  10. Try driving a brand new Trophy literally out of the showroom!

A couple of millimeters of clutch was enough to nearly crash into the French doors before I could get some lock on to clear the dog-leg where it was parked. Quite embarrassing when the showroom is full of people watching.

  11. I drove the 275 Trophy-R at the RS day at Oulton last year. Stalled it twice in the pits trying to get it moving. So sensitive compared to my Clio's clutch.

  12. I stall mine occasionally after driving the wifes Clio - you're right.

The stop-start re-starts the engine as soon as you dip the clutch again though.

  13. Okay, sorry! Yeah just take time to get used to it!

  14. My clutch is fairly high. I'm saving every penny for when it goes

  15. haha......im seeing a trend in clutch issues on this forum! Is there a better clutch to get to cure the issues or is a case of save for when the rainy day comes?
