Gloves

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by StephRS, Jan 16, 2016.

  1. Going to attent some Zandvoort sessions next month. Gloves are advised, but there so many choices. Any recommendations? I do prefer white Alpinestars because they look good, but what type?

  2. Alpine stars karting gloves are nice, white will look dirty pretty quickly tho.

  3. stick with darker colour they tend to dirty up quick

I use the Sparco ones that look and feel like their covered in thousands of little octupus suckers. Amazing grip on either leather or suede steering wheels. Not cheap though.

I think that is the current version but luckily I didn't pay anywhere near that sort of price as they do sales every now and then. I raced a little in a car with no PAS making the steering a hell of a workout sometimes so I needed everything I could get to make it a bit easier.

I note Sparco do a karting version of the above glove for under half the price.

  6. What about Alpinestars Tech1 KR ?

I don't know about them. I went to Grand Prix race wear at Silverstone a couple of years back and tried on all the gloves they had in my size. For comfort and grip the Sparco was the winner for me. I don't buy kit because it looks nice. I did the same with boots, tried em all on and came away from Castle Combe with a pair of black Addidas race boots, the Alpinestars ones were OK but wouldn't last 5 minutes walking around in a race paddock.

  8. Thanks! Will look around a race shop soon

  9. Go to a karting store, and chose what ure confort with

  10. Done that and came up with red Alpinestars. Happy with the result. Thanks for the input

  11. Handy thread, thanks a lot

  12. So nice, looks mint

  13. Thanks! You can get them in different colours ... Can't wait to try them on Zandvoort

  14. StephRS, When will you go to the track at Zandvoort?
I'm also thinking about going there soon.

  15. Depends on the weather. I'm not sure if the winter tires will like the track ... scared they will suffer too much on dry roads.
Dates are February 13 and March 28

  16. Okay cool, I'll need to get my front brakes done first. But i'll try to go there on March 28.
