Any remapped RS250/265 owners near Yorkshire?

  1. Hey all,

I'm thinking of having my 250 remapped at RS Tuning and I was wondering if there are any owners in the Yorkshire (ideally Leeds) area with a stage 1 map that would be willing to meet up and take me for a little drive to compare against mine?

Do those that have had it done think it's worthwhile if you are not taking the car on a track? I may do a track day at some point but it might be one a year max. The rest of the time it's a weekend toy and I'm not a young lad that drives everywhere at license losing speeds! But that extra kick in the back is such a satisfying feeling, even if it's just to get me up to the national speed limit, or thereabouts

    Thanks in advance,

    Nathan.

  2. I think rs tuning are in leeds. Give them in and ask. I'm sure one of there newly mapped customers will want stretch the cars legs to see what can now do.

  3. Changes the engine completely imo, from feeling a bit asthmatic and weak to having a huge wedge of torque in the mid range and it roars to the limiter

Could offer to give you a ride but tbh it's not needed, you won't regret getting it done.

  4. Thanks guys. Does this advice still stand for a car that rarely sees an indicated 77mph? The most fun I have in this car is those 40-60mph corners/roundabouts and the exit thereof.

And yeah, RS Tuning are in Leeds, not far from where I work so they may be able to put me in touch with someone. I'm hoping to take advantage of the no VAT offer at the moment but it does mean cancelling my insurance and moving to a new company who'll cover the remap.

    Nath.

  5. Would this also apply to a 265? Getting bored with the stock power and can't decide if I want to go stage one or not..

  6. Exactly the same across all the models. Even a trophy R would benefit just as much.

Makes the car more driveable when you're not blasting around too imo due to the extra torque.

  7. I know it's basically the same engine/setup but I meant that the 250/265/275 should feel slightly different from one another when stock!

  8. Never heard of anyone saying a bad thing after a proper map, providing it's a good one that is obviously.. I'd say it's definitely worth doing. I'll be getting mine done at some point this year. Been in a few mapped cars you do get quite a rush, smiling away even in the passenger seat haha.

  9. In my opinion I wouldn't bother with RSTuning map. A friend of mine had a 265 mapped to 304bhp by Paul at RST and I can honestly say there wasn't anything in it unless we went in 6th in gear.

Here is a video of mine vs his (mine is the red 250)

But my best mate has just put a deposit on a 250 with a bluefin map and scorpion exhaust and on the test drive (I was sat in the back) it felt RAPID! Very very quick! I am now very tempted by going for a bluefin myself but I'm going to wait he picks it up this Sunday and see what it's like vs mine before I bother looking into it.

  11. You know the bluefin runs lean , right ?

    Thats bad ..

the red car wazzes off in all but the rolling run in that video.

Yeah, Bluefin map is shite, as per most of their maps. ModX anyone LOL...

  13. It is not the same. One car can make 304 safely while the other car can also makes 304 and running lean and knocking...big difference. Also Paul is adjusting the vvt to improve spool up.And you can see that all cars has a lot more power below.

  14. Hey all, thanks for the opinions. Sounds like I'd benefit from a map even if I'm not trying to attack the 'Ring or see how fast I can lose my license

Oh and from the research I've done on here, it will be RS Tuning doing my map as I've not seen an owner report anything other than big grins afterwards. That speaks volumes to me, much more than bhp/lb-ft figures on a graph. Give me an early but smooth and flat torque delivery over a peak bhp figure any day of the week. I'd have imported a screaming, modified DC5 if I wanted to spend my days at 8k rpm and still go round the twisty bits.

  15. look in the group buy section for RS maps, lots of people giving feedback and showing results etc,

I work near RS tuning but have a R26 so you cant really compare it to yours but it has a stage 1 map, it is worth doing especially in a group buy to get £100 off

  16. I didn't know it runs lean mate no. I don't know much about modding cars as I have always left them standard but from my personal view I just can't see what the RST map is all about. And that is not being negative towards Paul he is a sound lad, however on that video it's mine which is 100% standard vs an RST mapped 265. So for me and the lad who had paid the £474 we was both pretty shocked. Again for me I would rather spend it on an exhaust for example.

As I say the one my mates picking up felt very very quick which has the bluefin and a scorpion fitted to it.

Im not being awkward or negative in anyway it's just from personal experience.

Have a search on here regarding the BlueFin, it's not good I'm afraid.

  18. Not the Megane, but there was a lad with a Bluefin on his Clio, took it on a RR and it was 40bhp down. Took it off and it had a new lease of life, just one of a number of experiences that put me off these plug in things.

They can work when done properly, it's not impossible to alter the map on a car you don't have physical access to (Paul does/did this with people from what I've been told) but not sure I'd trust sticking one of these maps on a car without testing it on a RR too.

  19. RS tuning maps are great, Paul is a top bloke and knows his stuff and I'll definitely use them again.

He mapped my albeit R26, 3inch exhaust and decat, intercooler, intake and injectors and made 287bhp and 312lbft of torque.

    Night and day different car!

  20. Interestingly I have been considering a remap but perhaps like many on here, 250bhp seems more than enough for road use as it is. I am not sure the cost of a remap would be worth it for me. Its not as if I will get to use the additional power much.

  21. Feeling quick is different to being quick.

    See the below graph ?

It felt faster than the below graph

In reality it wasnt. Not by a long way.

Also , do you know quite how much power is needed to comprehensively overtake or pull past a car to "detroy" it ? Its in magnitudes of 50s of HP/Torque. The reason the car started really pulling in sixth is exactly due to that.

The cars are smooth , better behaved and faster than stardard. Thats why you pay the money for quality mapping

  22. As said it is like night and day after you have the car mapped and its not just the final figures that make it worth while.

Great for pub banter but real-life high bhp isn't something I was chasing. What is great is the massive torque which makes overtaking a breeze and its generally a joy to drive. I've yet to go back on track since its been mapped and I'm certainly looking forward to some dry weather.

    Personally I'd recommend it

  23. Yea I understand and totally agree it will be smoother but just for me it's not something I would consider using as I don't think the difference in performance for the £££ is worth it. I don't know when I have ever actually had a "play" with something on the mway or track and been in 6th gear. So with what happend with me and my mate with the RST mapped 265 I would certainly not consider it!!!

  24. I think the 250 feels a little bit asthmatic at the top of the revs. Almost starts to feel naturally aspirated. Does a remap give better top end or does the turbo just run out of grunt at high revs ? I thought it would pull better to the limiter due to the VVT.

  25. Seemed so on mine, one of the reasons I got it mapped tbh and it seems much better.

Top end still drops off due to the stock turbo running out of puff, Hybrid will pull all the way to the redline.

  27. Yeah my R26 is like this with the stock blower since the map, Paul did say if I was to go hybrid it would need to run much more power it would be the delivery and constant pull to the redline!

  28. Got the RS Tuning map on mine and it's brilliant in all gears,4th I would describe as brutal compared with stock
