So itching to use an MSV voucher me parents got for Christmas and itching to get back out on track! Now I love the likes of Cadwell and Oulton park but have never done Snetterton. The dates coincide with my time off so looking at booking Snetterton just want people's opinions tbh
One of my favorites and one of the best on a Trackday as it is so long you do not get too much congestion. The bombhole is one of my favorite corners other than paddock at brands. First right hander is scary as you cannot see the apex and easy to carry too much into it. I 100% would recommend it.
Never done it in the Megane, but done Snetterton 300 few times in the GT-R always good seeing what speed you can get before the bridge and then realising your brakes aren't as efficient as they were 5 laps ago I'm taking the Megane there in 2 weeks.
Just to be controversial its my least favourite place to go for several reasons, firstly I have to negotiate the M25 to get there, secondly both times it was freezing cold and windy due to the flat east coast thing. I also really dislike the fact they ruined one of the best corners in the country when they remodelled the track. Last reason I had an absolute nightmare weekend racing there back in 2010 when my car went to 3 cylinders then died in qualifying without getting a single quick lap in. All in all can't stand the place, boring flat track a million miles from anywhere. Best drivers track for me is my local track Thruxton, closely followed by Donington.
Do like this track, there 20/02. Much prefer it now and the 300 circuit is much more challenging than the boring old layout. Last year claim to fame was overtaking a 911 turbo in the wet. Bonus my father lives 10 miles away.
Mattyt yes a track day on 23rd of this month. NJH I managed to snap a rear camber arm on my GT-R at Snetterton going around Murrays onto the pit straight, then I got black flagged anyway for 107db drive-by. For me to get there it's only 45-50 mins tops as I'm based between Cambridge & Peterborough. Be interesting to see how the Megane takes to it, my guess is I won't see the same speeds on the straights. I'm there in March as well every year friend goes there for his Birthday and there is a group of about 10 of us all on track.
It's March the 31st I'm booking with MSV, got a credit voucher off those guys. Just a few odds and sods to do to get it ready for this year
snetterton is really good. tried a few tracks now in the megane and really enjoy snetterton as its a mix of technical corners and some good straights. and agree with others the first corner after the straight is a tricky one and bomb hole is good. i am there at the end of the month
Snett is decent enough, Not completely flat to keep it a bit more interesting. It is a bit of a power circuit though IMO. Taking Bombhole and Coram flat is pretty fun although the grass doesnt slow you down much if you come off....
From what everyone says it sounds fast, I'm looking forward to it tbh purely because it's a new track and it's one I can tick off. I'll always love Oulton and Cadwell and my local circuit that is Donington. Anglessey is one I'd like to do this year as well as Steve1 seems to enjoy it even though it is a bit of a drive for us guys
Anglesea is 540 miles for me, Spa 1200 miles. You guys have it easy. I remember, during the war...............................
9 hours door to door from mine to the ring, that's stopping on the tunnel and once in Belgium for fuel lol
Since they have added all the new in field bits, it's almost got a bit too long on the 300. They should have popped an additional loop back onto the Bentley from the 300 to give a mid way length between the 200 and 300. The 300 is all a bit like Bedford now.
Well as long as I have a good day I'll be happy, some nice reviews and a opinions from here and track time Facebook group! Hate driving on the road now days, boring as hell and does the car no justice!
