just wondering if 17" say clio alloys fit fine on an r26? I'm in the process of looking for some track wheels and was wondering if anyone else 'downsized' for track use alloys/tyres? also out of interest, where do you guys (if applicable) buy your semi slicks from?
Yeh they fit fine, the 197/200 has the same size brembos as the meg anyway. I'm getting some cup racer alloys and slicks for the meg in the next month when i bother to pick them up.
The cup racer alloys weigh an absolute fuck ton, if you haven't already paid I'd think maybe about something else.
Really?! Bugger, well I've not paid yet so I'll have a chat to my contact. Wonder which 17" direct fit wheel that can hold CC slicks is the lightest then?
Loads of the Clio's use OZ Ultraleggera in 17x8 with an ET55 offset and the even lighter OZ Alleggerita (same size & offset) but they're expensive for just track use. You could probably get 2 used sets of cup racer wheels for the price of brand new set of OZ's.
Has anyone tracked their car on smaller alloys/tyres would the car be more prone to under steer with a thinner tyre etc?
I think the 175 diesel came with 225/45R17 at one point ? I could be completely wrong about that though. That size will be fine for on track too as it works out very similar to a 225/40R18 tyre The R26.R used 225/40R18 when it was on R888 and that's also the size I use with no issues so a 225/45R17 will be fine.
Tyres like the Kuhmo and Dunlop track tyres are much more solid than the R888s so one could always use those tyres if worried about the drop down to 17" making the softer/move around more on the tyres.
I am in the process of buying a set of 17" team dynamic pro wheels for my Megane. I know the seller has another set available if anyone is interested.
