Past couple of days when I've started my car (06 megane 225) the locks will lock and unlock really quick about 5 times or so. Anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Any help very much appreciated.
Kind od sounds like something a system might do if it thinks theres still a door open. But then the mk2 has awful electrics
I did have a problem with my passenger window as well recently. It stopped going up and down automatically then it went down and wouldn't come back up. Only got it in July.
That's a classic in the mk2, windows always fail. My mum has a more basic model and ended up changing the loom. Pretty sure she had locking issues as well.
Did you get to the bottom of this? My wife's car does this especially after rain. I've had all the carpet out but nothing's amiss with the wiring. Don't know of any other ingress points or what can trigger the locking mechanism?
Do you have lock buttons on the outside of the handles? If the switches are failing they can do this. Makes me laugh how people complain about mk2 electrics - they're no worse than any car out there - you only ever hear about the bad ones though - granted the drivers windows are a common fault but everything else is more than acceptable in my opinion.
Sounds like the switches are sticking in the door handle. Mine did this. Cost me 10p to fix. I can link you to new switches if you have them in the handles.
I do have the seiches and did the job on my own 3dr car at summer as the drivers side was non responsive. My wife has a 5dr and I've been too lazy to do hers. I had considered it although didn't think it could be them as the switches don't operate normally when you are in the car with the card or have the doors open so I dismissed it. Guess I'll have to go through them one at a time starting with the most used ones.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TXNKFYQ/?tag=rsmeg-21 thats the ones I used. Theres a a great guide on here but the pics have disappeared.
Yeah i used the same from eBay. The button length (or height) is important as it needs to engage with the door button but still fit in the casing. I've not got pics but can write up how I did it if that helps anyone.
Sorry for the late reply, haven't been on the forum for ages. They stopped doing it for a while then started again recently. Have you tried what's been suggested on here?
If you open the relevant door and look at the frame, their is a rubber bung roughly at the height of the door handle. Remove it! Then you'll need some stiff wire with one end bent into a hook. Go through the hole in the door and find the plastic tab and pull it towards you with the hook. You can now remove the smaller plastic part of the door handle by pulling it straight out. Then you need to pull the rest f the handle back and out. Then your into cutting the wires, stripping the actual handle down, digging the actual old switch out. Soldering in the new push button switch, seal it up. Solder the main wires back onto where you cut. Insulate. Put it all back together!
Haha I'll probably have no doors after attempting this! Thanks for taking the time to write all this down. Very much appreciate it.
