Jake's fast road/track/daily megane 250 cup

  1. So I've owned the car nearly a year now thought I'd get a thread up.

    Going back to where it all started with my clio 182 which was completely stripped, coilovers, bucket seats etc.

    Done some track time at FCS last year and that's where my love for track days started. Late last year the alternator went and I decided to sell up (didn't make a very good daily either). Plan was to go for a Golf R MK7 but the dealership messed me about so I went for a MK7 GTI and again, they messed me about with that as well. I contacted K-Tec at the start of this year and a deal was done, day later I went and picked it up.

    2010 Renault Sport megane 250 with 41,000 miles, both cup packs (full leathers), FSH but rather annoyingly I've lost the service book.

    The ride height looked a bit daft imo and it was far too quiet for my liking. So a set of lowering springs and a trip to my local longlife centre to get the mid box chop and a KTR induction kit I was pretty happy with the car.

    I also changed the brake discs and pads. OEM all round besides the front pads where I upgraded them to the RC5+.

    This was a recent picture where I also added black Diamond badges.

    Done the lowering springs, mid box chop and induction around March and haven't really touched it since.

    At the moment I'm in the middle of trying to fit my boost gauge. Me and a friend had the centre console in bits earlier this morning trying to find a live ignition wire and cannot find it anywhere! So any help there will be appreciated.

    I'm really enjoying the car at the moment so I've decided to treat it. I've just ordered the KTR turbo back exhaust, KTR intercooler, silicone inlet hose and a recirc valve, I'm off work now for 3 weeks so fingers crossed I can get it all fitted and mapped within that time.

    Plans for next year are to get all of the above fitted and mapped where I'm hoping going to see 310bhp+, a set of KW clubsports or I may go for the AST 5100 as there's a place only half an hour away that can supply and fit them for me, refurb my wheels as they are a state and possibly another set of wheels with sticky rubber for track days.

  2. Nice good to see your going big on the mods! Got any track time booked on yet? I've booked on for the 29th Feb at Bedford autodrome for a ford/Renault day. I've just bought a Ktec de cat can't wait to get it, but does that decat go to the turbo or is there another bit of exhaust before the turbo? Haven't looked into it. Just wondered if you knew. Car looks great by the way
     
  3. I've had the mid box chop done, makes a good difference. What springs did you fit?
     
  4. Yeah mate I plan to do Bedford depending on funds, I would like to see what the cars like on track with springs then with coilovers. If you went for the curved decat then yeah that goes to the turbo. Not tried it myself and wouldn't really want to looking up there lol, I've heard it's a right pain but message Mark Black on here, he quoted me £100 to fit a decat but I decided to go for the full system instead. Paul at Rst is fitting it for me for a good price

  6. Cool, I'm booked on already! Hopefully few more mods before then fingers crossed. Ahh ok cool, yea I've got a ktr cat back system at the moment sounds great and pops and bangs now and again but can't wait to get the decat on! Ahh ok not too bad, I think I might get it put on when I've got a few other things to go on the Meg.
    You've owned your Meg a while what's your opinions on tyres? I'm thinking of going for some eagle f1's but not sure what they will be like.. Any recommendations??
     
  7. Yeah I've heard the KTR cat back sounds great! I only went for the full turbo back as I might go hybrid later on others I'd of just went for a decat and kept the standard system. I brought mine with eagles on and rated them, for the price of them they are good. I'm on RSR's at the moment, they were very good on my clio again for the price I was running -3 deg camber on my clio and the side walls were fine, on the meg they've pretty much completely worn. I'll be going for PSS next
     
  8. Ahh ok, yea I haven't thought that far ahead just yet only owned the car 3 months haha! Yea they seem like a good option. Oh wow, yea I want to go for PSS but the budget is saying not yet what springs you running? As I'm looking into H&R springs, had them on my old 197 were great just wondered what they would be like on the Meg.
     
  9. Where you looking to get your PSS from? I've been getting my tyres from Opeono ever since the clio. Yeah I got H&R springs bud. Got them from cazan racing when they were running. I should be going to coilovers in March so you can have the springs if you don't have any by then
     
  10. From tyre leader but I've got a friend that gets them cheaper than retail which helps, ahh ok how do you think they feel on the car? I'm not really too bothered about a harsh ride. As long as it handles well ahh ok will keep that in mind pal cheers
     
  11. Happy days then bud. Yeah the springs aren't massively impressive if you've got cup chassis? A lot less body roll though and looks a hell of a lot better
     
  12. Ahh ok yea I do have the cup model. Yea the arch gap at the moment is silly. Just looking forward to getting a new set of wheels and a bit of stance on the car rather than looking like a 4X4!
     
  13. Lol yeah definitely. I like the Oz wheels but couldn't justify using them on track lol
     
  14. Haha yea it's an expensive wheel for track. I've got a wheel that looks like it, but is a fair bit cheaper. But they will come in time, want to get rid of my 19"s are they are too big! And tyres on them are stupid money!
     
  15. I'm not a big fan of the 19s but all black like yours with the right stance will look just right I reckon
     
  16. No I'm not really tbh, but hey hopefully when I get a new set sell these for a pretty penny, yea fingers crossed! Aren't you running the Ktec induction kit? If so what's it like sound? And fitting it wise, think I'm gunna go for it just weighing up what to buy next

  18. Yeah mate I got the KTR induction kit you can sort of here it in the video you liked on my Instagram. It does my head in sometimes but other times I love it! It's more of deep toned dump valve

  21. Have you got any videos of the induction kit inside the car ? Really need more noise from mine as im bored of the standard sounds now !
     
  22. I'm afraid I haven't mate no, it sounds brilliant though it's really loud I'd definitely recommend.

    Update on the boost gauge I've finally got it fitted and love it!!

    Was a bloody nightmare to do if I knew it was that awkward I would of left it and went for something like a scangauge but oh well big help from a friend and it's all done. For anyone who wants to do it, I used 1 permanent live from the left harness that connects to the heater control, 2 wires from the cigarette lighter bit and the live ignition wire which we were looking for was the yellow wire from the cruise control button harness. Nicely hidden and back out the end of the drivers side dash. All we got to sort out now is the T piece coming off the recirc valve, it's working all fine but just need to tidy it up a bit.

    That's it now until the exhaust intercooler and inlet hose have arrived. Coilovers should be around April time

  24. Your not being serious are you , that would piss me right off sat their, bright lights glaring at me, surely it can go somewhere a little more subtle or OEM looking

  26. Just a small update I've decided to go with AST sportline 2 with top mounts as I got a good price on them Curtis is giving me a call as soon as he's received them.

    I've booked Bedford for the 27th Feb hopefully I'll be able to get the coilovers on and set up before then, 2 new federal RSR for front, RBF600 brake fluid and braided lines also need to go on.

    Removed the rear wiper earlier on today looks 10 times better I just need to paint the exhaust surround

    I've cancelled the turbo back from ktec and decided to just go with a decat and get a smaller back box still waiting on the decat and the intercooler, will also be getting the belts and 6 year service at the end of March

    Ah i see, Was gonna say just running those types of tyres with road tyres on the rear is horrible LOL Ive done that before and they quickly got replaced

  31. Decat and intercooler got delivered this morning

    Curtis said he'll have the coilovers sometime this week ready for me to order, getting them delivered to J-tech automotive in Reading where the car will be getting the following fitted on the 8th Feb;

    Fitting/setting up coilovers and decat, intercooler along with braided lines/fluid and just a general check up ready for the track day at the end of Feb. Front two tyres will be replaced this week as well

  33. Was thinking the same with what I've heard, if he messes me about too much I'll have to cancel the booking. Jamie at J-tech works close with Curtis so I'm sure he'll understand lol
     
  34. What's the problem with Curtis? Just getting quotes around for some jobs for my car waiting on a call back from J-tech
     
  35. I've heard good and bad. Takes ages getting the coilovers etc, don't let it put you off. I don't lol. J-tech doing your decat mate?
     
  36. Just waiting to hear back with a quote. As the guy I use in Newbury said he would have a look when he does my mot
     
  37. So I tried to call Curtis about 5 times today but no answer. I'm going to try call him Monday if he doesn't answer I'm going to order kw clubsports from a German website (works out cheaper than the AST's too which is a bonus).

    Dropped the car off at ktec yesterday to get the decat and intercooler fitted as I couldn't wait any longer lol. Pick it up tomorrow morning

  39. I got my ASTs from Curtis, took about a month, never had a problem getting hold of him, had them fitted and set up at his unit, top bloke.
