Tuning Advice

  1. New to Megane side of things, limited knowledge other than drove one around Nurburg and liked it came home bought one.

Just drafted up first list of bits and who i'll probably source from and just looking for feedback (postive or negative) to whether it's worth it or better parts for similar money are available.

Hybrid Turbo / Garret? / RSTuning do one? / K-Tec
3" Decat Downpipe RSTuning / Ktec
    Induction Kit - K-Tec
    M-Tec short shifter K-Tec
    Turbo Inlet Hose - K-Tec
FMIC - Airtec one which is same as K-Tec I believe

Don't see point in changing the BOV not to fussed on rest of exhaust at moment as downpipe cat is main restriction and don't want to much noise.

Is it worth getting bigger injectors?

Remapping I've read through the opinions people have on various I'll make own decision on that one  I have tried speaking to David at K-Tec anyway for some information as recommended my by GT-R tuner Litchfield but it was impossible for me to get past the sales manager to speak to him so that left bit of a sour taste as was recommended to speak to him.

Honestly, remap, decent pads and tyres and maybe a fmic. It's all they really need tbh of you must do something to them.

I've ran mine for over 3 years before finally changing the suspension to something a bit more focused but even then it was still more than capable on track with the oem cup setup.

  3. Just speak to Paul at rs tuning every question he'll be able to answer

  4. I'll have a word and see what Paul suggests. It'll be on the track a lot.

Already decent tyres and pads although want another set of wheels to stick on Cup 2's or Toyo's for track. Can't do suspension for now due to driveway needing changing at my new house.

Will report back tomorrow with my plans

  5. Ok I'm going with,

    Decat
    Full exhaust system
    Induction Kit
    Turbo Inlet Hose
    Front Mount Intercooler
    Remap

Guesstimates in power? be pretty upset if I don't see 300bhp / 350ft-lb torque

I'm hoping to have everyone on and running for Rockingham on 27th where they've lots of 30 mins for £30 sessions. Be cars first outing on track for me in this car.

  6. It'll comfortably see 300bhp with those mods, many have seen that figure or close to it with a map alone.

Where are you having the work done? If I wasn't on an all day piss up I'd swing by and have a nose on the 27th. Best of luck mate, sure it'll go very well.

  7. Didn`t have much luck with the Airtec on mine, had to send it back. Others are available.

What was up with your airtec?

  9. Cheers Corey, I'll no doubt post up some video footage of good laps and me overcooking it when no other cars are on around and I look for its limit.

T&biskits interesting to know, what did you find with the Airtec which is K-Tec? I know Pro-Alloy do one but the size is to large so you need the additional water-cooler. Forge is I guess another option, I could pop in and seen them when I'm in Gloucester on Monday with the GT-R they used my Ibiza Cupra years back as the development car and I'm running one on my GT-R and pleased with how its performing.

Just looking as well the K-Tec exhaust and Miltek is only £30 difference, I ran Miltek on my Ibiza Cupra didn't like it off it came and sold, ran one on my B7 Audi RS4 and loved it and likewise currently running one on my GT-R and love sound.

If you guys had to choose between Miltek and K-Tec exhaust which would you opt for looking at the systems there virtually identical in shape although the Miltek seems marginally straighter.

  10. *Double post in error

  11. Not from personal experience, but many other forum users have said the ktec system is a good bit louder than the milltek. The miltek is a good system, although i thought it was only 2.75" diameter and not 3"

  12. They tested it & found an issue with the core restricting the flow. Which is what Paul(RST) said it could be when he struggled with power when mapping it. It only made 301bhp.

  13. I have the Pro alloy fitted now. Does come up to water temp reasonably quick, i dont have the small Pro alloy cooler fitted yet, but might if it gets a hybrid next year.

  14. Loved the miltek on my r26 with the decat it sounded lovely. It was too loud with the ktec rear box so I ended up swapping with the newer quieter miltek back box as they were interchangeable.

The decat will definitely change the tone of the exhaust so that maybe worth considering when you make a choice on the system. The scorpion system is supposed to be a good option and I believe it's 3" as well.

Was that an issue with your individual one?

  16. Aye Scooby on here sold his KTR system for a Milltek as it was a bit quieter iirc (Milltek was quieter). Be interesting to see what power it makes as the mods you're doing are exactly what I'm doing, I'm going for an uprated recirc valve though some say it's pointless but better to be safe than sorry.

Rockingham 27th this month? I may pop down to

  17. Or pop up, wherever it is lol

  18. Yes. There was another member on here who also had one fitted. They had it mapped by Paul@RS & it gave 310 (i think). Later went back & had a decat fitted with a map tweak & didnt make any difference. Could that have possibly been an issue again with flow? In Airtec`s defence they didnt try to fob me off & gave me a refund, no hassle.

  19. I have the Scorpion system, it is 3" and isn't so much louder than standard until you apply plenty of throttle! Fitting can be tricky on R26s though, I reckon it was fitted for the earlier 225s that don't have the rear arb. That said mine was almost half the price of the equivalent miltek on a group buy

  20. jwilliams I'll have a dyno graph up next week. I'll be have the bits fitted between Sunday - Monday, temp map and put onto dyno to get an idea of what it's putting down.

If I can get hold of a Miltek I might go that route otherwise I'll stick with the K-Tec for now and if to loud change the back box I'm friends with a few of the distributors I'm sure they'll assist with a decent price needed. On Tuesday my GT-R gets fettled with as well love xmas time buying presents for myself

  21. As mentioned on other thread started the day at 252bhp ended up with first testing at 314bhp and 333ft-lb torque but very good power lines very pleased.

Exhaust has nice crackle as well. https://youtu.be/tJNHAurgOAM

Didn't have as much time as would of liked for few other bits etc, but in time will sort various other bits. Had to spend the next day messing with another toy thats got a boost leak so was down on power, that said still managed a 644.3bhp at 0.7bar boost, usually I'm running it at 1.3bar.
