Bit of an odd one.... Sometimes recently when I use my rear wiper it unlocks and pops the boot open too. Obviously this is hugely annoying as I have to stop the car and close the boot every time. I've taken the trim off in inside of the boot door and everything looks clean and dry. Any ideas?
Ok so This went away.....until this morning. Now it's back with a vengeance. Had to stop several times on the way to work this morning as it kept popping open. Then just setting in traffic on the way home it did several times, but not activated by the rear wiper. Now I've been playing around tonight and have noticed that anything to do with the rear is setting it off, including when I brake, "pop"! I'm also noticing that when I touch the brake the rear wiper will crawl a few inches on its own. I have taken all the trim off the inside of the boot lid, everything is clean and tidy, no water ingress. I tried un connecting the rear wiper to see if that did it but nope, if I hit the brake or put the car in reverse it opens. In the end I've given up and managed to get the electric connection off the boot release mechanism so at least that stops opening, but now means I can't use the boot. The rear wiper is still doing things on its own. Any ideas?
I assume you mean the button on the underside you press to open the boot. I took this out and dismantled it. Everything looked fine in it. Also, I don't see how this would be making the rear wiper do things too.
Don't think it can be though as I have disconnected the boot switch and mechanism and the wiper is still doing things.
Mine use to open when driving along , its normally the boot button you can buy them on ebay from renault dealers
Thanks for the ideas so far guys. I've got to rule out the boot button as the wiper is still reacting to brakes etc even though I have disconnected the boot look from the circuit. Sound more like a dodgy earth. Although I couldn't see any earthing wires when I removed the rear light clusters the other day.
Thought it might be, glad u got it sorted fella, mine all ways used to pop open every time I put it in reverse!
