  1. Does anyone know the symptoms of thePS pump going? When sitting still if I turn the steering wheel a whine/squeal is emitted....

    They don't have a pump

  3. mine does the same, and so do a few others i've heard

  4. this is the hub bearings i think mate?

  5. It's sounds like an electrical whine though? What's the Best way to check a hub bearing then?

The steering not self-centring is a sign the hubs could be shot, also If the steering is excessively heavy.

The sound your describing sounds the same as mine, and it's done it from day one.

  7. Ah ok yeah my steering just pulls left slightly so might have a look!

I suppose it's me being cautious my boss has a 56 smax and his PS went costing him £600 yummy!

  8. steering pull could be tacking/wheel alignment

  9. A lot pull to the left, if you ever find the magic fix I think a lot of people will be very happy!!

Mine does this. Told it's something to do with the squib behind the steering wheel itself.

I think I may have found the fix!
I'll know for sure by next week

  12. Well, your status as head honcho Renault service centre will only increase if you manage that!

  13. I was told they are meant to whine as it is an electric motor and not a hydraulic pump...

  14. Yeah there will be a whine from electrical motors but a whine means it's probably current limiting which in theory isn't good.

I will get my top knotch mechanic on it after I get the paintwork touched up and let you know what he finds!

And Kieran if you find out do share does sound like a large problem and I think as a community we can sort it!

  15. Sorry for the revival, was this ever fixed?
