Its a bit of a PITA to adjust the dampers on the BC's at the rear, either you have to lie down and guide your arm up and through, or have the wheels off.... I managed to source the extenders from Jonny at Track Focus Direct, I emailed him about them, and 3 days later they were in my hand.......http://www.trackfocusdirect.com/contact/4575864549 Rentec in edinburgh drilled through the boot and got them fitted for me - quite pleased I can now adjust the rears very quickly without having to do anything really. Here's the end result...
Cheers! haha - yeah it is jippo pipe insulation from B&Q - its very temp. I will get the proper stuff to colour match the cage once I get round to painting it - thought it was needed either side of the straps to stop them moving out of place. Need to figure out what I am doing with the interior really w.r.t interior lights etc.
I would just remove it, Really isn't needed and isn't something i would ever bother to run, If your harness' are correctly adjusted they will stay in place themselves
You are supposed to use something like that but the difference is the FIA fireproof cage padding stuff is really hard. I have some on my race car but its only to stop the 2 shoulder straps sliding together. I will be removing mine as measuring it all up and comparing to the Schroth guidance indicates they should sit together anyway which like Jamie says is pretty much where they want to go by themselves on that car. I am surprised your bar is that far back you need to cross them so much.
Bingo, I can't think of any of my mates track or race cars that bother with it as one, It looks awful and two they all have their stuff correctly fitted. Now you mention the bar on the cage i would have to agree with you, Im getting the same guy to do my cage but ill be getting a diagonal and harness bars on the main loop at the B pillar as well as the what the OP has.
I have had so much conflicting information from people about this and went with the Schroth guidance to the letter pretty much. The harnesses are crossed as its >500mm from the seat back to the bar. The padding was a stock gap to try and best meet the guidance. The lap straps are drilled into the chassis using spreader plates - to me, this is as correct as I could do. Theres nothing wrong with how they are fitted, The padding just isn't needed. If your harness are moving about on that bar that much even when being worn then you simply need to adjust them so they are wrapped tighter round it.
Only place you should need the padding (fireproof fia msa stuff) is where you can come into contact with the cage like door bars and around the head.. Head against roll cage hurts like fuck haha i used the half round stuff doesn't look as shit then
Anyway, the coilover adjustment extenders...they're a nice wee touch. I hated lying down to adjust the AST's on my Clio, mainly because more often than not its was chucking it down at Knockhill
