Hi all got myself a 265 a few weeks ago ,loving it ,shame about the weather. Hi welcome .. What was the main faults with the Astra ? I've been looking recently as spec you get for money seems good I had the previous vxr in corsa and had nothing but a nightmare. Gearbox engine the lot

Compared to the megane the gearshift was naff ,130 kg heavier,like driving a diesel nothing over 5,000 revs,the megane would leave it for dead and the brake discs are a grand on the astra.The only good thing about that car was the ride quality. Run for your life away from them.you have now been educated ,if you still buy one your not to bright.sorry if I sound a bit harsh.
They haven't got any better then I would not touch another Vauxhall not even with yours. It may be a long time ago now (1989), i bought a brand new Mk2 Astra 16v Gte, what a total bag of shite, after a couple of days i took it back because the paint lifted off the bonnet, that was the start of it after 5 months and 54 different faults, i threatened to drive it through the show room window if they didn't take it back, this was after i had a reply from the director of Vauxhall and him saying "What do you expect for £14.5k" lost 5k+ in the 5 months of ownership.
Hi ictr, and welcome along. Megane looks great, but I love the Clio. I friend has a 13 plate Astra GTC petrol turbo, and that had to go back to the dealer for a respray after the paint started lifting within the first year. They don't learn it seems. I'm really surprised they don't go the same way as Rover and SAAB to be honest.
I should of kept the clio,if you buy those astras used even one year old, your own your own they just say wear and tear,crackers when you pay all that money.
He was lucky, mine went in two days, the worst customer service ever, first service the car did 70 miles and a quarter tank of fuel, denied all knowledge and said i must have made a mistake. well if people keep buying this shite. Had the same sort of thing with a new Mini cooper S, but that was a BMW dealer so i shouldn't have been surprised.
