I had a problem this morning, basically the starter motor kept turning and turning till the battery was dead. I hooked up a second battery and it was still turning for about 5 minutes, it sounded strong and eventually started. It wasn't a cold morning and I was using the car the night before, this isn't the first time but its making me late for work!! I can't figure out what It could be?
Tdc sensor? If they get dirty the ecu can't tell when to fire the injectors IIRC. Worth a look as it won't cost you anything
That's the one mate, couple of bolts to whip it off, May have to take the battery tray out - haven't done it on the meg yet only had to do it on the old Clio
Could be the crank sensor too. I had the same issue with my 225 Trophy and it turned out to be a faulty crank sensor.
Same thing Steve, just different names. You may be able to get to it from underneath, not had a look in a while!
It all ways catches me out with all the different names for things! Got told off at a motorfactors the other day for asking for a lambda sensor, got told the're not lambda sensors their 02 sensors!
This may sound silly but can I use thinners to clean it or use WD40? Nice one Steve I'll drive it up on some blocks and dive under, the under-tray is long gone so I hope its easy :-)
Either I've used carb/ brake cleaner and wd before it's only really a magnetic sensor so it looks like a lump of metal on the sensor end - shouldn't cause any damage
Hi,, I had this problem with my Megane 225 tonight pressed the stop button removed card and went to start the car again and then the starter motor was turning the engine over but not firing pressed stop and removed card but would not stop turning over, went to pull bonnet release and the f*****g cable snapped was turning over for about 5Min's smoke was pissing from bonnet, I ended up ripping the 2 black vents off from top of bumper to opening the bonnet that way,, Replaced UPC fuse box checked fuses are ok and charged battery, now only central locking is working and nothing asl electrical will work...
