R26 Exhaust change

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Sean2165, Nov 23, 2015.

  1. Looking to fit a new exhaust on my Megane now I've sorted the rad problem. Any suggestions Milltek or scorpion? These seem to be the two favourites. I don't want to fit anything that will make it too loud, but the standard exhaust is just a bit to quite. Also any links to the best place to pick them up from would help me greatly. Thanks

I have a Milltek on my 225 when i bought it, it has been modified, someone removed the rear box it is straight through from the cat, static noise test came in at 95db, now the cat has been removed it is a lot louder

  3. I've got a scorpion rs240, 3 inch turbo back with decat and only a back box.

82db on static noise test at Oulton last week and is nice and quiet during day to day driving.

Not sure what drive by noise is but I've never been pulled over on track.

Last thing you want is a stupidly loud car that's gonna either piss you off day to day or get you kicked off trackdays if you ever partake

  4. I was interested in one of those rs 240 systems. Did you have any issues with the fitting of the system ?. I noticed that a few people had issues with it catching under the body, and that it was a crap fit compared to the milltek system. Dose yours knock and clatter ?.

  5. No knocks or clatters mate, I had an issue with the downpipe as the flange was incorrect but that's since be altered now as mine was one of the first sold.

Mines also on BC coilovers so the gap between the axle and body is even small and I still don't have any issues.

It just took some jigging about but I've never came across and after market system that doesn't

  6. no after market exhaust sounds nice on the meganesport..it simply doesn't have a nice engine note..you will also lose your turbo whistle..
which when the seats are down, and the car is stage 1 tuned, makes the famed `sucking` induction noise..far more appealing noise..

  7. Ok that's interesting, what was the delivery time like ?.

  8. I have the RS240 system and it does sound good. It still has the 'sucking' induction noise but it has lost the whistle. No loss in my book as at high rpm (above 3.5k) the noise is fantastic. It doesn't drone on the motorway, and isn't all that loud.

That said, it was quite a faff to fit and clearance on the R26 rear axle is a bit tight. The early models megane had more clearance around the rear axle without anti-roll bar, etc. I took mine to Scorpion direct and they sorted the fitment out for me

I have the turbo back system with the sports cat and no mid-box.

  9. I beg to differ. I think - and admittedly I am biased - but mine sounds pretty damn fine. A lot would agree as well..

  10. I also have the RS240 system (non res cat back) and as Ewan said, it's not overly loud at normal town speeds nor does it drone at motorway cruising speeds, but sounds great at higher revs. However, I also had/have issues with the fitment of the system. The main problem is the overaxle pipe fouling on the axle beam over bumps, potholes etc, and if there's more than just myself in the car, it bangs on almost every bump in the road.

  11. Andy - have you got the Rs Tuning exhaust?
