Megane 3 RS 400+ Project

  1. hey

I'm just doing my 2011 Megane 3 RS rebuild. Soon the tuning is finished

Here's a list of my installed parts:

Forged JE pistons and Pauter Rods
Full ARP Bold (crankshaft, rods, Zylinder head)
    Selfmade Upgrade Turbo 400+
    Selfmade Air Intake
    forge wastegate and blow off
    forge intercooler
    76mm downpipe without KAT
    behind the downpipe 70mm
selfmade exaust manifold with twin scroll (at the moment i am working at it)
    875ccm injectors

    I hope around 380-400hp and 500-530nm.

At the moment i have no one for mapping.
In my eyes i have 2 opportunities because in germany nobody have experiences with this conversation in the megane.
    1. rs racing in spain, but 1800+km
    2. rs tuning in england.

    Welcome! Nice project.

Dijon Auto Racing have a lot of experience of 400+bhp builds on the MK3 Megane

  4. Welcome! Awesome project, nice to see the upgrades. Did you paint the red line on the dashboard interior 'Renault Sport' yourself? That looks really nice. I've got yellow interior and yellow would match the belts a bit more than silver.

Not sure if this helps you. But I'm from the Netherlands and did a quick search yesterday. What about https://fastchip.nl ?

  5. I'll be watching this with interest! What wheels did you use for the turbo?

also do you still have the standard pistons and rods?

  6. I'm sure if you find a willing tuner locally who maybe doesn't have experience but is willing to work with Paul @ RS tunings help you could work it out that way. I know Paul has or maybe does work with some people remotely or at a distance.

Sounds pretty insane though, 400bhp and front wheel drive  300bhp feels like too much unless it's bone dry outside.

  7. i can drive to england, no problem.
i will see how good it work with 400hp and fwd. i think it would be ok to drive.

self-made cnc wheel with td04hl exhaust turbine.

yes, standard pistons and rods with only 24.000km are in my garage if you need it.

    thank you!
yes, i paint it in red. above all there came a clear coat. look much better than original

  8. If you're going for close to 400bhp i would advice you to use 630cc injectors, they have enough flow for that power output.

Also you would need to run a return fuel system with rising rate fuel pressure regulator

  9. If you go through the pain of building yourself an exhaust manifold then go for a proper twin scroll flange not that stupid Renault/Volvo one. That just kills your top-end with too much exhaust back-pressure, especially at 400hp.
If you want to have a 400hp drivable car, you should aim for slow spooling setup that flows very well at high rpm rather then a small turbo that pushes all the air at 3000rpm and then dies of back-pressure.
You are still in the point where you can switch on the correct road.

    My 2 cents.

  10. 630ccm injectors are on the limit @400hp. 875 is better with some reserves.

first i test it with the original housing.
i am not a fan from big turbo holes. i want a very fast spooling to 500-530nm. no overboost. than he should hold the torque as long as he can. i have a exhaust temperature and lamda sensor, i can see if it was to hot.

  11. Yes 630cc is on the limit yes. But realistically i don't think you'll make 400bhp on a hybrid...

And i agree with bulardas. There are so much better turbo's around these days.

only reason i would use a hybrid td04 is when sticking to the original manifold

i'm busy sorting out the sagem 3000 ecu so i can tune it myself, would love to do the continental too but just not far enough for that yet...

  12. we have a turbo charger dyno. the fresh air side of the turbo can make 450hp with the special geometry of the cnc wheel and it is very accurate balanced. the only limit is the little exhaust housing and the exhaust temperatures. first i try it without cutback at the exhaust wheel and hope for 400hp. if the temperatures and the back pressure is to high, than i make a cutback and try it again.

  13. There are also 9 and 11 blade hl turbine wheels if you're looking for more flow. Stephenvenning on here has made his own hybrid too and is converting his clio this winter.

20t billet compressor and 9 blade exhaust wheel iirc

    Hi,
Try Patrick Kirfel in Adenau http://www.renault-kirfel.de/ he has huge experience in this area and has a new large bore intercooler ready to launch which could also help. Other plus points for you are that it's in your language, currency, country, he has a rolling road, can fabricate custom exhausts, is a Renault authorised dealer for spares and is next to the Nurburgring for testing...
Good luck with the project it sounds interesting!! Tell him B1GSO from England says hello...
    Cheers

  15. i have a customized 12blade hl turbine and the maximum possible size compressor wheel in the original housing.

here is the first test wheel with old geometry and without the blue coating

  16. My forged engine is finished.
Now we build the exhaust manifold at the weekend and i hope at monday the Engine is in my car and ready for the first start

  17. here are some uptates... tomorrow we build the exhaust manifold

the engine is now complete without downpipe/turbo/exhaust manifold.
