As above. Just got my Megane and loving it. However i've noticed that my trip computer is completely wrong and doesn't seem to be working properly. Rlink and RS monitor and everything else is fine, just the damn trip computer. I first noticed it when I got it but didn't think anything of it. It showed average speed of 105mph which is not normal for starters! I then reset it to see how many miles I get from a tank, and it's not been working since then really. Tried to reset it yesterday after filling up, which I did, but it wasn't registering any miles once I started driving. This morning it's showing my average speed at 299mph!! And average MPG is all to cock too (99 which is not right as i've been driving it hard and I know for fact it's not that!) Any ideas for a fix? It's a brand new car pretty much, the previous guy only had it a few weeks before having to sell it, and it was registered as new in June this year. Do you think a software update will cure the issue? Bit annoying really especially for such an expensive and new car! I love how it drives though. A guy on the other Renault forum explained it like this - what do we think? "The internals calc engine still work (you can see this as the distance left data still updates) so it registers that the mileage has been done just doesn't display. its all based on what the trip computer measure vs what it calculates if it diplays MPG MPH distance gone, distance to go it obviously needs to know Distance, Time, Fuel Volume. eg if you travel 10 miles after reset it won't display 10 miles but will have registered it. if it doesnt register the fuel volume for this trip then after you have stopped and restarted a new journey it then starts to register the miles So it thinks you have done 10 miles using 0 fuel 10/0 = infinity (but it maxes out at 99.9) it also things you have done 10 miles in 0 seconds, 10 secons, 20 seconds so calculates this as a very high speed." Thanks
I've suffered this twice where it recorded the miles traveled as 0 despite having traveled at least 30 miles since the reset and then the distance until refuel stayed at 320 miles (even with only a 1/4 tank left, I wish!) I just reset it again and it works fine. Not sure what causes it but to me it's just a quirk of the car. I don't really reset it that much anymore as I normally just have it showing the digital speed readout.
When you reset the trip just try pressing and holding 1 button instead after both on the end of the stalk. I had the same problem and I found doing this solved the problem.
Ok thanks guys. Yes same happened to me as well re: doing a reset and it staying at zero. I think the description above in my text is correct. It forms the figures based on what miles you're doing at that point. And you need to reset it before you switch the car off. To be honest it's no biggie as the performance and fun factor of the car more than makes up for it, it's just an annoying quirk I guess. I like to know how many miles I'm getting from a tank so reset it habitually (or at least I used to in my Clio)!
Mine did it once on the way round Scotland. After a hour or so when I noticed, I reset it again and it's been fine ever since.
My dash started playing up i put £10 of petrol in and it said i had 700 range A few weeks of doing wierd stuff the battery died all of a sudden while out i jumped it off and still did stupid stuff until i got a new battery and its now normal and car runs better and i swear i get alot better mpg
Yes mate mine is pre facelift, it's a December 2013. They changed the onboard computer on the facelift for some reason no one can explain. Think some of the features have been removed.
Ok, to update on this, I reset it using one button at the weekend (the top one) and it has been behaving itself and working properly so far! Fingers crossed that it remains functional!
