New chap from Cambs area with a Meg RS250

  1. Evening, just signed up as I'm sure will find information on here useful to me.

Brief bit about me basically, bit of a petrol head for many years and just reached my early 30's. Over past few years got more into the track day side of things and thinking of using the Megane as my UK base track toy as other car failed on the noise side of bits sadly.

Cambs based and literally just signed up to say hello and browse forums. I'm already getting a vibe of potential options on tuning side I must admit I was considering the K-Tec remap, hybrid turbo route but others seem to be suggesting RS Tuning options, I'll have to look into it all a bit more.

Anyway will leave you with a photo of the Megane in it's standard guise as I only collected it a day ago. If you have any questions feel free to ask my history includes Supras, RS4's, Imprezas, M3's, Clio V6's, etc. No time for artist photos at present, working away in Germany for 4 days and got a house move next Friday at long last.

  5. Welcome! Nice cars!

Love the GTR, is it expensive to run it?

  6. Welcome mate lovely car selection. Is that Tim Westwood next to your V6?

  7. Ha, yes was a few years back now think 2005. Was at some show and he saw the car and liked it and sat down and ate some Noddles with me

Thanks for all the kind welcomes.

With regards to the GT-R it's no more expensive to run than anything else like an M3 for example. If you use decent INDY's a basic service is around £170, a major service up to £700. Tyres full set is about £1,200 and if OEM brakes then your looking at around £600.

Once you start tuning them it gets expensive I've put at least £30k into tuning mine in terms of brakes, suspension, gearbox and some power modifications.

In terms of reliability and I don't want to tempt fate, it's ran almost perfect for last 3 years with over 100 Nurburg laps under its belt + Spa and various other.

Looking forward to playing with the Megane next year.

  8. Haha that's brilliant, noodles with the big dog lol.

The GTR is an awesome piece of kit.

Those prices although high are pretty reasonable for the level of car that you get. I've been in Tom Chiltons hot lap prepped GTR and that's insane Lord knows what an extra 30k would turn them into!

Look forward to hearing how you rate the meg in the future.
