Drl in headlights 250/265

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by odinson, Nov 5, 2015.

  1. Right am I being thick or something lol I've read on here a few times about people mentioning drl in the headlights and there's me thinking I've got them on the thins on the bumper? So what exactly are you guys on about when talking about drl in the headlights? Any pics would help as I'm sure I'm being stupid here and completely missing it

  2. Its the one that doesnt work at all, didnt you fit aftermarket headlights thou? They maybe not br in those

  3. This is all my fault! Me and my quest for black headlights and PM'ing Odinson  My current silver lamps on the 250 have the constant DRL lights in and I have blanks on the thin bumper bit.

I'm looking at some black ones from Xenons Online and the general consensus is they don't have them in. Which I don't really care about so long as the car doesn't throw a fit when it can't see them and so long as it passes MOT.

  4. Haha I'm just confused as I've seen this said a few times on here and my idea of drl is led strip hence my confusion lol

  5. The led drl in the front blade was an option i beleive, as a standalone option or part of a pack (visability pack- xenons, led drl, anti glare rear view mirror, and electric folding mirrors) if this wasnt speced then it would be in the headlight, which if you have got the blade option then it will be deactivated in the headlight.

  6. Thanks Ryan. And at the risk of enraging the "search button" mob, is it just a case of popping the blanks in the blade off and retrofitting the LED DRL's? Or is that a whole new can of worms?

  7. Well someone on here is in the same boat. He bought a car with the blade led drl, but wont work and the ones in the headlight are working. I would assume that they need activating via clip at a guese, so it is possible.

  8. Assuming that the cables are there for led drl, which comes from the passager side of the car to the bumper and then theres a loom attached to the bumper from one side of to the other. Whether thats there i dont know. You could do with getting bumper
off first and see whats there n whats not.

DRL in headlights. (if you squint!)

However I have the DRL's in the blade, and the loom/ballasts are all there and plugged in....... bit of a mystery tbh

Just need to get it on CLip to see whats going on

  10. The car doesn't care if you remove the drl bulbs from the headlight even if they're active, so you should be alright - well, at least mine doesn't.

These are my added LED'S. Just bought LED lights, added drivers and connected to DRL in main lamp.

  12. so you just plugged these on the near side and they worked?

  13. Hey Msek

Do you have part numbers for the bits you got? Want to do this myself!

  14. Generally two LED lights but that is obvious and driver which is used to power them, fuse, some cables and box to hide all. Driver is Meanwell LDD-350 or 700 depends on how bright you want. I went with 350 as I burned one LED (you can't go with +12V directory to pins) and used other LED'S inside lamp and didn't want to burned them again (lot of heat on radiators).
Drivers are really cheap about 5euro and do the same job as original driver from Renault for about 150euro each

You need to remove blank from spoiler (on the left side EU) is better as you can reach to screws only by removing main lamp. On passenger side there is worse as you need to remove wheel, remove shields, loosen Xenon light tank and move it a bit. Of course you can take whole front off but I didn't want to do it.

  15. Thanks Msek!

How much did the led light units cost you? Did you need a part number for them to give to Renault?

  16. Renault prices are sick so better look for used!

I bought used one for 35euro and one new for 60euro on Polish auction portal called Allegro.

Here you can find right one:

I think number of part is on the pictures in provided link (left is other for sure)

Just a warning if you would like to buy from here - I was forced to exchange one new as it was already broken so knowing our local sellers it come back to scope

  17. Went to the site, but couldn't work out how to pay for the item - Buy it now didn't seem to give any payment options. Even using good ol' google translate! :-)

  18. I just checked. Guy is not sending outside of Poland.

  19. I'm planning on doing the same and almost have everything ready..

  20. Part numbers are: 89015793 (left) and 89015794 (right). Note these are for a 250 (3 leds) - the 265 ones are wider and have more leds..

  21. Thanks for those!

  22. Looked up the stuff on Dialogys - £180 each, more expensive than the headlight units! Weird p/n's for the drl pieces though...

  23. you're right, those numbers are weird.. I took a photo of my DRL's.. they have two numbers on them, one on each side of the sticker, but none of them looks like the ones from dialogys
