anyone else's exhaust drone like a ba----rd? i've got a decat and full milltek, between 3500 and 5000 its awful. Any way of calming it down, different system perhaps?
I have sports cat and milltek,and there is very little droning. Ive been told,that the cat only loses a few BHP,and is only very slightly restrictive.
mines unbearable between 3500 & 5000, gonna have to look into getting something changed. Nothing is touching and the hangers are genuine renault and all new.
My Milltecs on my R26 are fine I have a full system and it's relatively quiet when I am not booting it. My mate has a scorpion on his VXR and I couldn't stand it!
My mate says my Miltek 2.75 and 3" decat is laughable how quiet it is. His Mk 1 FRS is stupid loud with the same setup. Can here him turning round at the top of my road without twitching the curtain lol
Which milltek system Martin? When I had mine I changed the smaller ktec box for the newer quieter milltek back box and it was so much better.
Got the full milltek from rs tuning, its not the noise, its the resonance it produces at certain revs, I'll have a chat with Paul and see what he reckons
My Titanium system is perfect, I'm sure you had one of those a while back, dam, just remembered you down graded lol
I have the rs240 scorpion system too and its great on the motorway. Its actually not all that louder than standard until you get on full throttle
Ive got the miltec with RS Tuning 3" decat .... no droaning from mine ? if anything its quiet as fook ... was actually thinking of removing the back box to get some noise from it lol
I've got the ktec 3invh exhaust too along with a rstuning down pipe and I haven't noticed any droning tbh, I've found it quite civilised when pottering around. Motorway is spot on until you start pushing pass 80 then noise picks up. I actually found it to be noisier doing motorway journeys when I had the backbox chop on the standard system and rstuning down pipe than it is with the 3inch system. How old is the exhaust system? If it's quite old I was going to suggest could maybe need repacking?
If it's been like it since fitted it's not right, get them to change it, could be faulty mate, can't expect you to put up with that.
Didn't realise this was brand new... I have a Milltek fitted 10 months ago, and no droning at all. Its very quiet unless you are on full gas at 3.5k+
Update - clutch slave failed at Brands hatch last week, so trailered it up to Mark Black, slave completely fecked, drained the gearbox oil which was silver, so all new gearbox bearings. Mark removed the existing gearbox mount which had a power flex insert fitted and put a new OEM mount in, when it was all back up and running, the droning has virtually gone now, which is nice. Fitted an ITG induction kit as well while it was all apart, and a forge recirc, sound brilliant now. Mark Black, top man.
