R26 Gearbox oil filling

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Adz07, Oct 17, 2015.

  1. How are you lot filling your gearbox oil? I need to top mine up but the location of the filler hole is a bit of an awkward one.. guessing I need to make a long funnel?

  2. Where is the filler hole? On the side of the gearbox?

I did it on my clio 197 and if its the same as that, I took the passenger wheel off to remove the cap and get access, then used a length of tube which fitted over the filler tip of the bottle and poured it down through that.

Sorry, might not be relevant on the Meg

    Yeah

  6. is it worth replacing the gearbox drain plug with a magnetic one, like a gold plug? Getting one for the sump so might as well?

  7. I'd say so - Every little helps. I've had them on a car before and its pretty shocking how much metal they pick up!

Where do you get them from as its something i'd definitely buy myself

  8. I was going to get mine from opie oils at the same time as getting the oils - http://www.opieoils.co.uk/search/go?w=gold plug. Just need to work out the correct sizes.
