Looking at buying an R26 but I'm 6 foot 8....

  1. Hi all, I'm new to the forum, I'm looking at buying an R26 in the next few weeks, but I'm 6 foot 8 and have read a lot of people saying that the seats sit very high? Is there any chance I'm likely to fit... Lol.

I've already messaged a member on here who I've read can lower the standard seat bases around 45mm. Is this likely to be enough for me to be relatively comfortable in the car?

I'm used to squeezing myself into a car, I did have a mk1 mx5 as a daily for a little while haha.

    Thanks for any help!

  2. You'll fit no problem at all , even better if the bases are lowered

  3. I only 6 foot 2 but there is still a good 3-4 inches above my head in a standard seat and a few notches back to go on the seat runners. Loads of room!

I also had my seat bases lowered about 40mm which makes a big difference and gives you even more clearance. It's an easy job to remove and fit new bases, took me a couple of hours on an evening. Now that I remember, I took loads of pictures and meant to write a guide but it never quite happened

  4. did I do your seat bases ? The last guy that colected them from me never sent his back and I can't remember who it was as I deleted his messages by mistake

  5. My R26 has just gone up for sale if interested? Going to leave in on here for a week before going down the PH/Autotrader route. Photos etc are in the cars for sale dection.

  6. I'm 6ft 4 and I have no problems fitting in, everything is very adjustable so it's never a problem! Don't know if 4 inches would make a difference but it shouldn't!

  7. yeah I'm 1.94 (6ft4/5) and fitted with the normal unlowered seat bases with a helmet on as well..

With the bases lowered it should be good - steering wheel height and rake is adjustable also.

  8. You did do them Steve, but I sent mine down first. It was also about 6 months ago.

  9. Awesome! Thanks for all the replys and help guys!

  10. Go test drive one or if you give a location someone may let you sit in theirs.

  11. I'm 6'7 and there is still head room above me so you should be fine. Depends where you carry your height... Long legs, short body will be the most hassle as the headroom is better than the leg room.
