Question about breaking a mint 2012 RS265?

Discussion in 'Megane Discussion' started by Jollinz, Jan 16, 2018.

  1. Hey, you will all think this is prob outrageous.. but what if I was to break a very good condition black RS265 Cup version.. without the recaro seats.. and minus driver door card as the bloody handle snapped clean off 68k with full service history etc.. does anyone have a rough idea of value when being sold in pieces? All the way down to bare chassis? I know it would take some time lol.. but is it worth it? Anyone wanna have a stab at an estimate?

    Cheers

  2. Whats wrong with it bar the handle and doorcard?

Couldn't you replace this and sale the whole car as one?

  3. Unless you are getting it cheaper as well, would seem like a silly thing to do

  4. £1500 for engine
    £400 for gear box
    £200 for both drive shafts
    £300 for turbo
    £500 seats
    £100 steering wheel
    £200 other interior trim
    £500 wheels with good tyres
    £350 calipers
    £200 for discs
    £200 for both hubs
    £800 for body panels
    £400 for both bumpers
    £200 in other exterior trim
    £150 DRL’s
    £100 exhaust
    £100 shocks and springs
    £100 lights
    £200 locks keys and Ecu
£300 stator motor/alternator and wiring harnesses ect.
£100 for the chassis in scrap

Can’t think of anything else but say with another £500 for bits and pieces you’re looking at about £7500 tops.

Most 265’s are worth minimum £10k private so no it’s not worth it.

  5. Ok cool.. well it’s due the cambelt change soon, and the clutch is on its way out, so the flywheel gottabe changed..the dephaser pulley etc needs changing too.. just thinking well do the work.. which won’t be cheap then sell and effectively minus that cot from the price of the car..

  6. Or rip it to bits and save myself having to put that cost forward as have fallen on hard times recently and family life etc is forcing me to make changes.

I take the the RS chassis is no different to the normal megane chassis then? As in not sought after for rebuilds?

  7. Is a clutch change expensive?

  8. On these it bloody well seems to be from what I can tell.. with new flywheel too... then someone to fit it.. with cambelt change that due in 2k miles.. looking and couple grand or just under ain’t I, done properly in a garage

  9. Well the cambelt change is £4-500

  10. I’ve just had my clutch done for £150 labour although he admitted he’d undercharged.

£300 for oem parts (clutch, slave and gear oil)

Mine Didn’t need a new flywheel but if yours does it’s £420 just for the part with your old fly in exchange.

Cam belt is around £600 with dephaser.
I recommend you get a new dephaser fitted.

I’d budget £1500-1600 for both jobs doing with oem parts at a reputable specialist.

  11. Or maybe sell the car as is and account for the work that needs doing in the asking price.

A cheap 265 needing work will probably sell quicker then a mint example imo
