Matts Red 250 Cup

  1. Tbh an m3 is far more involving then a megane and even driving this slowly I can tell it needs more attention but I've not really bought this to be an all out attack it's more of a car I can just get in and enjoy. Vanos on this car is silent which has surprised me and most sound like a bag of marbles

  2. 6 cyl RWD, nice place to be.

The Clio is for track right.

    Sweet little combination.

  3. As much as a decent FWD can be you just can't beat a RWD, 6 cyl, NA motor with a nice weight distribution.

The great thing about an older RS Clio track slag is you can get them up to a decent pace without having to spend too much. Removes the temptation to spend loads on bits you don't really need but is deemed as must have and 'fashionable'

    Cheap on consumables as well.

  7. Shame to see you're leaving Matt. Been good to watch your car progress and has helped me with a few things for mine.

My brother has an e46 in carbon black with red leather. We've just fitted ST coilovers, tunrner anti-roll bars and powerflex all round. It has completely transformed the car it's mega! The engine is insane and has a Larini back box for extra noise. We share cars so lucky enough to have both on the drive but the M3 is the one to have really!

Here's a pic (not the best sorry)

  20. I just received my copy of PFC and enjoyed the article on the 250. Certainly not as good as this whole thread but was the best article in the magazine!

  21. Thanks buddy I was so thankful for the car to even be considered considering it's not actually massively modified in comparison to most that are featured but was told it was more about the story and journey ive had with it and to have 7 pages was great.

  22. What a great read what a brilliant car you have built, I have just bought a rs250 cup the other day and this has been a great inspiration of what to do to mine. I also used to track a 172 and 182 supercharged amazing cars on track for the money never had tha balls to track my old seca blue M3 though. Hope to track my meg next month at Combe.

  23. What a stunning car.absolutely love that red colour and the car looks so fat and wide. Awesome !!

  24. Thanks for the kind words chaps really appreciate it

  25. As previously said Matt, great read, really nicely specced car and proof you don't need a bazillion hp to make a great track car!
How many sets of wheels though

  26. Hahaha I've had a few mate I must say

  27. What amazing journey youve had with this car so far! This project thread is the sole reason for me joining this site. Youve convinced me not to do anything to the fiesta st180 and save up for a meg 275 haha

  28. Really really appreciate that buddy thanks!!! The car had certainly gained a fair amount of attention, mainly due to how active I am on Instagram etc but I had a great time with this car and I'm sure I'll be back in one one day

  29. Well since Megane has gone I've struggled to find a suitable replacement and have since bought and sold e46 m3, Audi ttrs, ep3, and the most recent loss was a polo GTi but 2 nights ago I stumbled across what could be the perfect project and you will all be pleased to know it's red and has a 250 engine haha. e21b1a78854d02d1d90e06e52888bfdf.jpg a3ad4cca50a0ed2cbc3604e00e96449a.jpg 834b41eedd1e58562248839111a1095f.jpg

  30. That looks like a decent starting spec! Jack said you were moving the TT on. Bonus points for buying a car that matches your existing thread title?

  32. Good to see you back Matt. Surprised to hear you got rid of the M3...how come?

The Clio looks a riot mate! Has it got a 250 box with the lsd? What power?

  33. Tbh the m3 was again one I shouldn't have sold but I made good money on it in the few months I had it was a great car but I was using it as a daily. The Clio has a built 225 box with a quaife diff. fee64440d9cf84ee6b547b4e6bc590ec.jpg df3a7261b722792c2815ca3f0490f2d8.jpg

  35. Brilliant!!! Guess whos back, back again!

Looks like a great starting point for a truly nuts track build.

  38. Nothing wrong with it, truly mind blowingly fast on the road but £20k+ my own money invested in my only car didn't seem the right thing to do ATM so sold it out some money in the house bought a mk5 GTi for daily driving and something for track
