Been a while since I updated this, here's some of the stuff that happened... Wound down the front coils about 10mm, so the front sits a little lower than the rear: Went for a full alignment at Steverink Banden in Apeldoorn, highly recommended place: Went to visit the AST HQ in Valkenswaard, had their chief engineer take a spin in my car, all found to be very well setup: Meet-up with the small electro-brother: Fitted plain front discs + PerformanceFriction Z-Rated pads + Mr Pink pins, very nice upgrade for a fast road car: Had a Axton AXB20STP Subwoofer fitted, as I found the stereo very lacking, especially in the low department: Some pics from yesterday, at a meet-up from another forum:
Like this car a lot. Wheels and ride height look great. Still partly wish I'd held out for a yellow one too!
Still an awesome car, shame you weren't at the ring with us past weekend! How are the z-rated pads treating you? @StephRS might be going to buy them aswell!
Pads are exactly what I hoped for, hardly any extra dust/noise, great feel even when cold (except maybe the first stop of the day on cold mornings) and hold up great to repeated hard stops.
Hmmmm, 100% sure i'll be replacing the DS2500 with z-rated in that case when they're worn out. Read so many good reviews on them. Is your car remapped already?
A remap or a remap at Fastchip ;-) Regarding the brakes .. I'm up for the PerformanceFriction Z-Rated pads. How are they compared to the DS2500's you've had?
I never had DS2500's on this car, so can't comment on that. A think to keep in mind about the PFC's is that they don't work well on slotted discs, someone on here went through a set of pads in 3,000 km.
I love how your car looks. Question - could the same ride height be achieved with just a spring change? Could you also provide a picture of how you plugged the sound generator?
No chance of that ride height with springs. Sound generator just needs a 38mm bung, Undo the jubilee just before it and plug it up. Or you can chase it all the way back to the inlet if you want to completely remove the piping associated with it
I never really noticed a difference when I put a bung in place of the sound generator. Had it in for about 6 weeks until I was at evo triangle, heard a pop and warning lights/loss of power occurred. Ended up using a massive king pin I found at the side of the road and a cable tie and managed to get the rest of the driving done. Havent bothered ordering another and just refitted the generator.
thanks mate Sorry for offtopic but what is normally achiveable with just a spring change while still maintaining a decent ride quality?
Stumbled upon this boggo Mégane Coupé 1.4 TCe last night, took some quick photos. Nice to see the impact the factory wide body kit makes! Totally agree on both points.
That looks brilliant. The standard Meg looks awful next to the RS version, especially with the RS modified.
Finally found some time to have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 fitted at my favorite MINI-garage (GoGarage37): What garage still washes your wheels after they're done? Wet grip is really good, and people can finally here me again when calling them on the carkit. Steering feel is better than expected, though I did get the XL version with reinforced sidewalls. Dry grip of the Nankang NS-2R is really good, but they're the loudest tyres I've ever run on my cars!
i really like them..still got people saying they have soft sidewalls. I havnt noticed any slop when pushing on in my R26. sometimes i just think people have the wrong pressures in them.
Are the PS4 tires loud? I ran PS2's on my previous car and they were extremely loud, even when in the car...
I'm enjoying the silence after the NS-2R's, but they're louder than more comfort oriented tires. Does depend on the road surface, bad roads are worse in this case. I went with the XL version with reinforced sidewalls, feels great so far!
for a all round road tyre,i dont think you can buy anything better than michelins. i have been using them all the way back to the MXV,as fitted to my series 1 RS Escort Turbo!
I still like how they look and they've held up fine so far, so can't fault them. IIRC I paid like €800 ex shipping and VAT for them...
Do you use any spacers ? My wheels are to deep in the arches, thinking of ordering a pair @ Steverink together with some new summer tire’s.
After a year (and some 15k miles) I gave the Alcantara steering wheel a clean with some detergent and warm water, came up like new! The Misses wanted to take some pictures: Wore some matching shoes for the occasion...
I don`t think you understand the concept of `camouflage`, the jacket isn`t really working with the car. Nice pictures, especially the one of the door & front wheel, it shows that you obviously don`t park it in your supermarket car park by the lack of dents in it.
In my opinion, this is the best looking 250 on this forum. It’s absolutely perfect from an exterior point of view. The ride height and the wheel offset is perfect. What wheels are they?? I’ve also had my steering wheel done like yours by Royal Steering Wheels in the same way, and I used one of your pictures to show them what I wanted.
They're EVO Corse SanremoCorse in 18x8 ET47. IMHO these cars don't need much to look good! Only one dent so far, guess I've been lucky as I do have to park at the airport quite often. Did notice some extra marks on the rear bumper recently.
