Blue 250 cup

  1. I think that BMW e46 M3 droplinks should work but it's finding a reliable, good quality source.

  2. know Ktc fit a BMW drop link they've found when lowering on coilovers

  3. Ok, small update for those interested in the hunt for the knock.

I have now discovered how I can make it happen on demand.

On a perfectly smooth road traveling at 10-15mph, dip the clutch and dab the break and I can almost make a tune with the knocking. So although I thought suspension and first I now think driveline or lateral movement (forward and back) rather than suspension (up and down). The saga continues.....

  4. If it helps.. with my previous car when i bought it, it had some really annoying knocking noise and i didnt find the issue right away. But as i found out it is related with braking, it was easy to make that noise with the brake pedal. Finally found out that it was the anti rotation link, changed both sides and it was noise free!
It makes sense as you are moving axle back and forward with the braking and this part is holding the movement that way..

I have found it! Link arm was about 10nm loose 1mm of movement but my God was it doing my head in. Car feels whole again.

  6. Ehr, what about a BMW dealer or specialist?

    According to RealOEM.com:

    1PO1wQ4.png

€41,16 according to Leebmann24.de (large German dealership that sells everything online), less than I paid for adjustable ones on my MINI. But I'm guessing your local BMW dealership will have them for £35 as well...

  7. Just when I thought my problems had gone.

I've now got a wobble/vibration in 1st and second gear when accelerating. It's not catastrophic wobble and as a passenger you can't feel it but as the driver you can feel it through the wheel and pedals?

Only happens when pressing on in 1st and 2nd gear and low speed. Higher gears high speed it's fine?

As usual help/advice/prayers would be welcomed. Trying to convince myself it's not a driveshaft.

  8. So a small update:
After the knock had gone, I discovered another annoying issue/rumble/wobble through 1st and 2nd gear. It did my head in so I took it to Avia Speed Shop in Bridgend for wheel alignment, corner weighting and a full geo setup. It was all in the price of the geo setup so, I had the corner weighting done although it's not really needed on a road car.

It felt instantly different, lighter, sharper overall. Well pleased and highly recommended.

Pic for the sake of it.

I didn't remove the original splitter? I fitted it over or should that be under, the original splitter.

  12. 12 months MOT no advisories...

And for successfully getting through the MOT I bought some 18x8 Team Dynamics with Federal RSR's
    [IMG]

May keep them off until next year but the temptation to fit them is strong.

  22. Did the wobble you had disappear after having the corner weighting done mate?

  23. It was the tracking being wayyyyy out that caused it. All sorted now.

  24. Glad to hear it mate! Does feel like one thing after another sometimes. Have to make the most of it while it's running well!

  26. Nice wheels , those are ET38 ? do you have a side picture of them to see how much they stick out? Thanks

  27. Blue and gold.... Your car didn't develop an offbeat burble and grow a massive boot spoiler when you fitted those wheels? :tongueout:

  28. whats the lowest ET the megane RS can go without rubbing on stock suspension?

  29. These are ET38. 8j.
I don't know the answer to your question.

Honestly you may get a better answer starting a separate thread where it may get more attention/views.

Well it’s a year to the day since I bought the Megane and apart from the gearbox mount bolt snapping, it has been fault free. The Megane really has surprised me, I never thought a French car would entertain me and hold my interest as much as the Megane does. It may have a heavy clutch, bone shaking chassis, limited visibility and an annoying keycard thing but I really really like this car.

    Recap:
    Midbox chop
    Scorpion Decat
    Remap
    RamAir airfilter
    Airtec Intercooler
    KTR Braided brakelines
    RBF500 Brake Fluid
    RC5+ pads (track use only)
    Motul Gearbox oil
    Bilstien B14 Coilovers
    Driveshaft spacer
    Federal RSR
    RS gear Knob
    Retrimmed Gear and handbrake gaitors

    Plans for the future are:
    Steering wheel retrim
    Cambelt and Waterpump service
    Torque Mount
    New discs and pads
    New seats

  31. Ground breaking update, I hope your sitting down?!

I broke a puddle light when replacing a bulb with an LED. Since then the puddle light has popped out as the retaining clip wouldn't hold it in.
A friend was was breaking a MK2 RS, and low and behold the puddle light fits!

Ok. Not the best update but it's an update.

Also painted the rear exhaust surround:

And finally booked in to Ktec for cambelt and pump service. Also getting a thermostat fitted as my temp gauge isn't playing ball recently.

  32. Sold the TD's to put the money towards my wedding and house sale/purchase of new place. Then I saw some Recaro Sportsters for sale.... couldn't resist.

Pretty easy to fit, bar one rounded torx bolt. Transformed the feel of the car.

  33. Been wanting to do the black exhaust tip for a while. Looks great pal!
    Did you Sand/primer/paint?
What type of paint did you use?

  34. Sanded a bit, no primer just black paint and that's it. Seems to be holding up well.

  37. Visited Ktec Racing Yesterday. Left my house at 6am to get there when they opened. What a mission to get to, over a 70p toll bridge in Bath. Lots of 20mph zones, countless speed cameras and variable limit zones. But all that saw a healthy 38mpg. Got there at 8:30am, as they were opening up I had a nose around the cars for sale, the white track prept 250 looks a hand full. Few memebers of staff came to see a Blue Megane RS250 as many hadn't seen one. Greeted at Ktec by the guy behind the counter who gave me directions to Bournemouth and the keys to the courtesy car, a 15 plate Clio 1.2 my god. Comfy Clio but anything over 50mph was a struggle. After a rainy day out returned to Ktec and picked up my Megane after having the Belts, pump and stat done. I had the stat done at the same time as it seems a few Meganes around the same age are having thermostat issues.
Very good service at Ktec and would/will use them again in the future.

  39. I have absolutely no idea. There's a few groups/forums that I'm part of that are arranging RR's this year, so I'll hopefully find out then.

  40. Things with the Megane slowed down a bit recently as I got married and went on honeymoon and our house has sold and our new house should be built in Sept/Oct. So funds are thin...

Stripped out the rear and made a mat to cover where the rear bench was

Went to a local RR and pulled a slight disappointing 285bhp.

I knew more was capable so took it to RS tuning in Leeds who remapped it further and got 305bhp. Not a huge gain but the delivery and smoothness has transformed the car. Paul seems to think I would benefit from a full exhaust system.

    And a rolling shot
