Black R26

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by Si271, Aug 1, 2017.

  1. Morning, guess I should introduce myself. I'm Si, I live in Kent, and owned my R26 for about 3yrs. Originally bought it as a cheapish toy, but things soon escalated, as they do! The car was totally standard when I bought it, but within days I installed a ktec high flow panel filter. Then things escalated......
To cut a long, drawn out story short, the "improvements" made are:

Ktec black edition grooved front discs with standard drilled on rear

EBC pads all round, (soon to be changed for something more hardcore, undecided at mo)

Ktec 3" turbo back exhaust with sports cat

    Airtec 95mm core intercooler

    Forge dump valve

    Forge uprated actuator

    R26R clutch and SMF

    630cc injectors

    250 turbo

    Ktec induction kit

RS tuning map, capped at 302bhp, 303lb/ft

    Cooksport springs

Many other not very interesting bits, suspension parts, etc

On the whole I'm fairly happy with it at the moment, but starting to look at forged engines, bigger turbo etc, for early next year, provided I can bribe "her, who must be obeyed!"

  2. Welcome along mate. Where about in Kent are you? i'm near Brands Hatch. Some nice mods there, i try and add something every once in a while, keeps the interest and enjoyment levels up. Do you do any trackdays at all?

  3. Hello, thanks mate. I'm right on the coast. No track days yet, but planning to in the very near future. I had a few hours at Lydden as a spectator on a track day a few weeks ago, a mate of mine was testing his race prepped MK2 Escort there. Was contemplating going there for my first time, but he advised me not to, due to it apparently ruining tyres and windscreens, what he did suggest tho was a taster session at Brands which I think I'll do. How about yourself, do you track yours? What sort of spec are you running?

  4. Brands taster session will be great for your first time, let me know if you book and i'll pop up and say hello. Spec wise, its running 314/340, AST suspension, 250 brakes and a few other bits and bobs, got it just how i want it now. A group of us do around 6 or 7 trackdays around the UK and also Spa, great bunch of blokes and always a great few days away with them. you're welcome to join us.

  5. Welcome aboard. I should think the car goes pretty well in that spec and you should have a riot in it on track!

  6. Thanks for the welcome! Yep, it goes pretty well, looking forward to tracking it but definitely want to upgrade the pads and fluid first. Any recommendations would be well received!

  7. I'll certainly give you a shout when I book it! It'd be great to meet other like minded people, and as for track days at Spa, etc, I'd be right up for some of that! Thanks for the offer! Ideally I need to upgrade pads and fluid before tracking it, if you've any recommendations I'd happily listen!

  8. RBF600 is fine, i've got some brand new braided lines if you needed any. Most people use the DS1.11, noisy on the road though, or XP8/10, again, noisy (and expensive) The 250 brake conversion is brilliant if you are doing a few trackdays, you can use the z rated pads,£105 a set and last ages, no noise, hardly any dust and fantastic stopping power lap after lap.

  9. Thanks for the info, it's good to hear what real enthusiasts use, rather than buying stuff blindly because the manufacturers claim it does the trick! Braided lines are on my list of things to do, which ones have you got?
