Cup vs lowering springs

  1. Hi gents

What’s the general consensus with lowering a cup chassis model rs265?

They are a little high, not to the point it really bothers me but they do look nicer. Would it effect the cup chassis for the worse?

    Thanks

  2. I changed mine for Cooksports. Handling and comfort is very similar to cup. But the ride height front and rear is now spot on.

  3. I wondered the same exact thing too

  4. If you really drive the car on the road, you simply ruin the handling by lowering it.

  5. I beg to differ

  6. Reducing wheel travel could be fatal on bumpy roads.

Everyone has its own priorities of course.

  7. Fatal for what?

  8. I just thought, If they are quality springs, then the set up and shocks are the cup chassis and the sprsings are not doing all the work to the stock models? I don’t know hence asking, I’m not too clued up on suspension

  10. I had my 250 lowered on cooksports 3 weeks ago, comfort the same if as standard cup springs. Slightly lower (scientifically 3 fingers to 2 fingers) and really makes it sit just right in my opinion, probably feels the same to drive in reality I can't tell a massive difference.

Absolutely no rubbing and no issues with clearance, speedbumps / potholes haven't been a problem

  11. Sold

  12. Your loss, hard and crashy springs, h&r are much better

  13. I dont find them to be crashy at all. They feel very similar to standard cup. They make the car sit nicer than H&R.

  14. Defiantly not crashy on my car they are the same as the standard cup springs in comfort. Agree with DoubleD

  15. I have owned both, and the h&r are much better

  16. Both on a MK3 Megane? So the H&Rs ride better than a standard cup? I still prefer the look of the car on the cooksports to the H&R.

  17. Yeah both on a mk3, Cooksport are harder then h&r

  18. Well to me the car feels virtually the same as it did on cup suspension

  19. Ok so, I’m on CookSports at the moment and wondering if Gram springs might be a better bet. They are still lowering which I like, but I was just wondering if there was much difference between the Cook’s and the Grams?

  20. For a mk3..? And why would you want to change?

  21. No a Mk2. Just read about grams being better in some peoples opinions, just gathering intel

  22. Gathering Intel in a thread about mk3 springs...... Start a new thread instead of messing this one up

  23. Steady! :hushed:
Sorry for "messing" things up for the Mk3 owner!

  24. What size springs were they so to speak? How much did they quote to lower it by 35mm front and rear ?

    Cheers

  25. 35 on a non cup and 25 if you have cup springs
