Audio Upgrade

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by TR09HY M, Sep 22, 2016.

  1. So after test driving the Meg 265 Trophy, I immediately fell in love with it.. but as soon as i turned on the stereo my heart sunk.. I know these cars are designed to be light and agile but boy is the audio bad! I like to have fun and engage in a fair bit of spirited driving.. but i also love music! So i decided to do something about it..

It sounded better as the 2nd pic..

  2. I have modified the audio in my last 2 cars, so this journey isn't new to me.. 1st job was to sit down with the Jedi master of car audio Dave Legg @ Skipton Car Radio and hatch a plan! I spend half my life away from home so doing this myself isn't an option.. plus this guy is on a whole other level.. below is a boot build he did in a MK4 4Mo I had.. lovingly known as the Alien  11040511_879964668764068_5593429996681161160_o.jpg 10337711_10152942877250994_7746230409648370681_n.jpg 11390046_1445172429136217_5787022969814630551_n.jpg 11336892_10152943359965994_3885377266485363515_o.jpg

  3. Exactly my point of view... it's my daily driver, and sometimes I just want to listen to my music while driving down the motorway like a zombie. Interested to see the outcome of your upgrades!

  4. Awseome work!

I upgraded my audio as well but with a more classic set up. It was funny to discover thar the twitters grill had no Twitter in it ![emoji15] anyways, now it sounds pretty good [emoji6]

  5. Any pics of it installed?

  6. You can only see the sub in the trunk as per pic above. The power supply is under passenger's feet covered by the chasis matt and the 6 speakers behind the 6 oem grills.

    TR09HY M likes this.
  7. Nice

The system is indeed super rubbish. I kept it as standard 5.25" and went for Audison components, but in hindsight I should have got the guys to cut the door away and get a 6" in there as the midbass is a bit lacking

  8. Looks very tidy, hope you're pleased with it?

  9. Yep it sounds awesome.. so much better than the standard system. It's a great install and when the cover is on you would never know the boot install was there.. plenty of room in the boot still

  11. A LOT of work obviously went into that. Good job!

  12. Makes those longer journeys and motorway miles much more pleasurable

  13. I'm getting a bit annoyed with the rubbish sound in my megane. How much does a setup like yours cost if you dont mind me asking?

I dont mind paying a few hundred quid but I cant really justify thousands.

  14. Noice! love that.

Upgraded mine also, nothing special but just tidily installed. We both got Focal speakers
