Clio 197 brakes vs megane 275 brakes

  1. Hi all, has anyone went from a clio 197 to a megane 275 and thought the brakes aren't as good ? I know the megane is heavier and that prob will make a bit of difference but It just feels the brakes on the clio are alot sharper and biting point is quite a bit better . I have standard brembo pads in both cars. Not sure what discs are on the megane but I have brembo high carbon discs on the clio. Would prob be a idea to change the brake fluid on the megane is I have only had the car 3 months so not sure last time it was changed . I know the pins are all free on the megane because I changed the pads 7 weeks ago and fitted new pins.

  2. Hi Chris, did you resolve this issue? I also came from a Clio 197 with PBS pads front and rear - initial bite and biting point were much better than on my 305 hp megane 250 cup - I have pressure bled the system through with new RBF600 fluid and it's a little better but not much

Did changing your pad and disc combo help at all ?

  3. Hi mate, I have recently purchased new grooved renault discs all round and pagid rsl29 pads i haven't git round to fitting them yet. I'm also going to do a full brake fluid flush with castrol srf brake fluid. Once I have reaplced them mate il let you know how I get on and how the brakes feel. I also purchased pbs pads for the road so hopefully they will be good enough. Just always felt the brakes on my clio gave me more bite and confidence than the megane for some reason. Chris

  4. Hi Chris, thanks for the response. Exactly how I feel about the megane as well - much less confidence than when I was in the Clio

Hopefully your new setup works wonders. I think I might try rebleed the brakes once more with the abs valves open then try taking the caliper apart and replacing with all new seals etc.... before I start with new discs and pads

Cars got wimax front and ebc rear pads which people have had no problems with and all even wear on discs and pads..... So will try a bleed once more !

  5. Might be worth the extra bleed to make sure all air is out. My friend has pagid rsl29 pads on his megane, I have been out win track with him and his braking feels amazing so hopefully we can resolve our issue.

  6. Sounds like it's will resolve the issue! I think for my next set of pads, I'll go for z rated pfc fronts and PBS race in rear for fast road / occasional track - bit more budget friendly !

If you could let me know if the new pads solve the issue that would b great mate

  7. Yeah mate the pagid maybe a bit aggressive for the road so will let you know once I put the pbs pads in how they feel. Heard alot of good of the winmax pads be good to see how they feel.

Il message back mate with a update.
