   Sounds like a silly question, but unless you know, you don’t.. so could someone advise what the gunk is that is coming out of my rear brake pads?
   
   It’s like a paste..
   
   Is it brake dust/residue? Is there’s problem?

   That's an anti squeal compound, usually copper grease, applied when pads are fitted.
