250 Vacuum Pipe for Boost Gauge

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Bumblebee, Jun 22, 2018.

  1. Any tips on how to get vacuum hose through the firewall on a MK3, preferably on drivers side where I intend to fit the boost gauge.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  2. Mines routed through the big rubber just behind the brake booster where the brake pushrod goes through, made a new hole. Don't know if it's the best route though, especially if you want it on drivers side. Mines fitted just below the radio where that empty tray thingy is.

  3. I went through passenger side, save going round the hot side of the motor ,then just under carpet & behind centre console. After a couple of days I used to forget it was there, then it went tits up & didn't bother replacing it.

  4. Drilled a 8mm hole in firewall in passenger side footwell, came through by brake servo. Sealed around the hole with silicone sealant plus the hose was snug fit anyway. Can’t notice it as it’s tucked away. Had extra vacuum hose though as the hose supplied with the gauge wasn’t long enough.

  5. Thanks Chris.

That’s the way i’ll be doing it.

  6. No problem. Remove the glove box too as it gives you better access

  7. Hi, no idea on mk3 but on mk2 I ran one through the passenger side, if you get under the dash you can see pipes coming through a grommet, I just cut the grommet and pull out and allows vacuum pipe through, think my mk3 is same, if I’m not mistaken the stuff coming through is for brake booster (big round thing behind air box) I think...
