  1. Hi can you use 225 40 18 size tyre on cup wheels as I have 235 40 18 tyres on at present but have the opportunity to purchase some sticky tyres but are 225 40 18 size zr rating.

They will be fine, not much noticeable width difference between the two anyway

  4. From an insurance pov, I am not sure this works as the std fitment is 235 on Cup equipped cars.

  5. Hi Nick, it does in this case. The COC is the same for Cup and Non-Cup cars.

  6. Ah interesting UL, thx ! I assume the COC lists both sizes and doesn't specify which chassis gets which size. Providing the insurance uses that document then great news. Personally I'd still wouldn't risk it as the insurance could simply say that the Cup option implies the 235 as per any Renault document (apart from the COC). But I am very much risk adverse !

  7. Same here! After having had a long legal fight with an insurance company... COC is used for national homologation, so everything in COC is already allowed. If you request a COC at Renault for your Cup S (or mine, or any other) it'll list both. Even the strict guys on the continent are allowed to run either.

  8. Insurance assessor on here has before confirmed that it's not something they would look at, as long as the tyres fitted were road legal.

Renault themselves list a range of tyres that can be fitted, including winter tyres more 'out of spec' than the OP is talking about (with the warning not to exceed 195kph I think).

    You'll be fine with 225's.

  9. I guess Git-R will soon be fitting rear 225s to make his cup even more lairy then (if that's possible...)
