I bought my car with budget tyres on all 4 corners and even though they have plenty of tread on them I want to get rid of them and get some decent tyres pretty soon. I've seen on the other site that the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 are highly recommended. Are these generally the tyres to go for? What is the difference between these and the Pilot Sport 3s? Also, what sites are people using to find competitive prices? I've found the Pilot Sport 2 at £170(fitted) a corner on blackcircles.com but not sure if this is the best deal. Cheers!
Here in méxico Michellin sucks, here the roads are very badly damaged and is very easy to fall into a heard, there the Pilot´s break easy. My suggestions are Toyo proxies 4, Maxxis I Pro, Hankook rs3. There are cheapest than the Pilot´s, similar grip, similar tread and better quality.
Pilot Super Sports are pretty much THE tyre to have at the moment, superb levels of grip and not that expensive either.
I've always rated the eagle F1. Got 2 of those and 2 uniroyal rainsports atm. Tried conti, khumo, still my favourite!
Thanks for all the suggestions. Plenty of choice then by the sounds of it. How much should I be looking at for a set of 4x verderstine compared to 4x pilot super sport?
Just went trough my front OEM PS2's and went for Yokohama Advan Neova Ad08. Will try them on thursday at the Brno circuit trackday. Hope they gonna clean it first after the MotoGP..
Ended up going for the Vredestein Vortis @ £462 delivered for 4x 235/40/18. Once I get them fitted it will come to £502. The cheapest I could get the PS2s for was £624 fitted. Thanks for the suggestions folks! No matter which ones I went for they were bound to be better than the Fullrun/Haida combo on the Meg just now!
Good choice. When I first saw them on the car I thought they looked quite strange. Almost like they flared out closer to the road contact surface. No doubt though i Am very impressed by them.
Has anyone fitted Michelin supersports? They don't do the exact size but 225 45 18 I think is only 1% different and they're supposed to be ship hot.
I run 235/40/18 Micheline PS2 on my Megane. I did as well 2 track days, and like 10 rounds on Nurburgring and only 50% from the front is down. The RenaultSport team Megane had them as well on the Red Bull Ring. I am looking for some racing tires like R888, but that is bigger investment as I want as well TeamDynamics wheels.
ive heard good things about these Vredstein Ulrac Vortis, which website did you get them from ? I'm nearing the point to change a whole set and think its time to ditch these PS3s for some thing of better value/ sharpness.
So what are we all saying then. I need two new fronts, and have had good experiences with ps3s in the past? So either ps2s, pss Or eagle f1 assy2? I don't do track days so its just road use but I'm prepared to spend out for decent rubber, is anyone still using kumho v70s??
On the basis a person went from ps2 to assy 2's and said it was worse id go ps2, best road tyre ive ever used. never tried the pss imagine dry grip would be better but dont come in std fitment yet
The PS3s are ok but I've always felt like they weren't as grippy, they also wear out far too quickly and so I don't think they're good value. I was tempted by eagle F1s too but the fact these ultrac Vortis have great reviews and they're a lot cheaper then Ill give em a shot.
