    Recommendations please ?

I'm after proper track day wets, so who's got what fitted and what's your feedback on them please ?

I'm not interested in Rainsport 3's etc.

    Thanks in advance

  3. You ask for rain tires but you're not interested in rain tires?

  4. I think the o.p means PROPER wet track tyres, not road tyres that are alright in the wet? That's what I understood anyway...

Dunlop race wets are stunning dry weather grip in the wet, can pick a set of used ones up with loads of life left for cheaps

  9. I am one of the "run what you brung" people, which means road tyres, even on track. This means i am slower than the guys i go with in the dry, but am as competitive in the wet. I don't think i am a good enough driver, to be able to get the best out of Slicks/Semi slicks as most of the other guys do, but i am sure i enjoy track days just as much.

That's the type of tyre I'm after Jamie, any links to where I might find a set please ?

Nick, no, they don't need to be road legal, I'm after proper racing wets, not road tyres that are good on a wet track day if you see what I mean.

Dunlop/Michelin/Pirelli competition wets, any of them will be brilliant, http://www.mrtyremotorsport.co.uk/index.asp and https://www.protyre.co.uk/motorsport-division/protyre-motorsport.aspx are the guys I have bought from in the past when I was racing (had to in the 2nd case).

    BUT

Competition wets will overheat quickly unless the track is properly wet and once you get heat into them they will cook, then go rock hard once cooled down again loosing their awesomeness. Jamie is right though, lap times similar to road legal tyres in the dry is mind bending stuff, just take care of them. I have a set of Pirelli competition wets and the rubber genuinely feels sticky like how you imagine a super sticky tyre should feel.
